The second challenge is Motorbike games!

As before, these are split into Easy/Medium/Hard categories. Some categories might have more than one game...

I'll reveal answers in two weeks (on 19th December).

One clue:
  • Easy = readily available to buy still, or fairly well known in the past.
  • Medium = maybe not available to buy (apart from eBay); a bit less known.
  • Hard = good luck on guessing these!
Bike Easy 1: correctly guessed by @Facundo Estevez - Evel Knieval (aka Evel Knieval Interactive Stunt Game or Evel Knievel's 3D Stunt Game) - a horrible, barely playable bike riding game, where you have to hold stunts for a bit, or do a jump. Terrible.

Bike Easy 2:
correctly guessed by @sKeno - Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing - a semi-sequel to Redline Racer, featuring the same tracks (and more) but enhanced graphics. The Dreamcast version was reasonably well-known. Lightweight arcade racing from Criterion Games (prior to the Burnout series).

Bike Easy 3:
correctly guessed by @Gevatter - Moto Racer 15th Anniversary - available in the Moto Racer Collection, this is a mobile game ported to PC. Doesn't play as well as the other Moto Racer games.

Bike Medium 1:
correctly guessed by @Valenfield - MotoGP '07 - the 2007 edition of MotoGP was the last to be developed by Climax Games. It featured (as per MotoGP '06) an Extreme mode, with street racing tracks in the same area as the real-life races. This is from the Prague track.

Bike Medium 2:
correctly guessed by @sKeno - Super-Bikes Riding Challenge - prior to their Ride series, Milestone had a go at bike street racing with this title. It's based on the engine that powered SCARS (Squadra Corsa Alfa Romeo) and Evolution GT (aka Corvette Evolution GT).

Bike Medium 3:
correctly guessed by @Zuffenhausen Weiss - Jacked - no longer widely available, this was going to be a tie-in to the Ice Cube bike film Torque, then they didn't go with that license. It's sort of like Road Rash.

Bike Hard 1:
correctly guess by @sKeno - GP vs Superbike - this was the ultimate culmination of the games based on the engine first seen in Johnny Herbert's Grand Prix 1998 and Castrol Honda Superbike. You could race F1 cars against superbikes, but it didn't play at all well. Amusingly, the engine for all these games predates Direct3D, starting out life as a DOS-based software engine powering Teque's/Eidos Interactive's Power F1 game.

Bike Hard 2:
correctly guessed by @Zuffenhausen Weiss - Cyclemania - Accolade's stab at a CD-ROM based bike racing title, it plays something like MegaRace, with pixelated sprites overlaid onto low-resolution real-life video. Amusingly, whenever you crash, you see a crash video clip from real life bike races!

Bike Hard 3:
correctly guessed by @Zuffenhausen Weiss - Moto Extreme - this is a terrible DOS-based sort-of sequel to the terrible Sega 32X game Motocross Championship. What IS going on in this screenshot?! (and apologies for FRAPS counter still being visible!)

Bike Hard 3: I played this a lot, had an amazing split screen mode. Sadly i can´t recall the name, searched it on google and was never able to find it again. Good times :(

Edit: just found it via google picture search, but thats cheating :x

Correct! Just one to go now. I think people here know their motorbike games better than their F1 games (or just missed my original competition!). The next test will be Rally/Offroad...

The Bike Medium 1 game is MotoGP 07!
(Note: the screenshot is from the PC/Xbox version, not the PS2 version since that one was outsourced to a different dev and totally looks different compared to the main ports)

Correct! All my screenshots are from PC games :) Sadly the crowds in MotoGP '07 now break up and flicker like crazy with modern graphics drivers (on Nvidia at least), but at least the game is still playable!

All games have now been identified! Well done everybody! Next up will be Rally/Offroad games, hopefully they'll prove a bit more challenging :)
