GTR Evolution Tyres vs GTR2 tyres

From the tyr files I have looked at so far (just a few gt pro cars) they appear similar in some ways to those found in gtr2.
There are now 2 lateral slip curves the first one drops of roughly the same as gtr2 but the later drops off a lot sharper.
The brake and accel curves also drop off more sharply as the tyre gets worn so braking and getting the power down with worn tyres is harder than it ever was in gtr2.

From the ones i have looked at so far there is very little differences between the different models but some have ever so slight changes in the wear rate, but the grip factors and slip curves look the same from car to car.
Some have said they though the evo cars felt like they had hard tyres compared to gtr2 but if you look at the data then they look more like something between soft and medium for grip but the wear rates are nearer the soft tyres than anything else.

Had a quick look at the eng files and the Lifetime Avg and var look much the same as they did in gtr2.

Going to have a look around some other stuff later.

from the above there are some small changes in fuel consumption, rev limits and such, the powers graphs are pretty close for both of them with only slight differences and the engine lifetime data is much the same with only the safe rpm limit being increased in line with the higher rpm that the engine now has.

Wow ... Neil, you were bored at home last night weren't you ... nice bit of work though!!

Unfortunately for me I have no idea of things in GTR2 as I only got it about two months ago mainly to do the driving school (I was travelling and moving around EU last few years  but without a gaming rig or wheel :() ... and I haven't touched GTR2 since I completed it's driving school and especially since I got GTR Evo (surprise surprise :D).

Anyway ... my layman's interpretation of the main points you make is that:

  • The tyres are somewhere between a soft to med compound (not hard as I keep hearing )
  • The tyres should last similarly to the GTR2 ones
  • BUT ... performance drops off much quicker once they do start to wear.
  • On the Saleen power curves are similar, and keeping it between 3000 and 6000 RPM's will keep us in the engine's "sweet spot" ... won't it?

Did I miss anything else there?

... just one more quick thought - what happens if someone edits these files - do they get booted as a possible cheat from dedicated / race servers?
Would hope so as editing the fuel usage or tyre wear etc will make a rather large difference to your entire day huh?

EDIT: Also how did you map those power curves ... would be cool to have one idea for each car I drive then I know better how to gear it and also where the power comes and goes.

Yup, soon as you edit any physics files (.tyr / .hdc / . eng files etc ) and go onto a server you will get booted as possible cheat.

You need to use Dave Purdy's physics editor.
