GTR-E or other game in 3D

I've just downloaded the nVidia 3D software and tested it out on GTR-E and it's very impressive.

Evo gets an excellent rating from the in-built ratings system and runs brilliantly, GRAW 1 & 2 get either a fair or good rating and don't look so good and have some corruption, NFS Shift gets a Good rating but again I think that one runs and looks damn good.

I'm not using a 3D monitor BTW, just cheapo glasses and the nVidia software\drivers (195.55) on Win7 64-bit.

Anyone else running GTR-E or other games in 3D?

One interesting point that I haven't figured out yet is that I have some 3D glasses that were free from Sainsbury's to go with the 3D week on C4 this week and they don't work with the computer. My Brother had a couple of old pairs laying around and they work fine on the computer but not on the TV. The only difference I can see between the two pairs is the older ones have lighter red & blue tints and work with the PC while the newer ones are darker and work with the TV, anyone able to explain this?

Regards
(wasn't sure whether to post this in here or the Hardware\Software section so feel free to move if it's in the wrong section)

I think the newer 3d video stuff is done with a different saturation level so it doesn't look too disturbing when viewed without glasses. The older films and probably how the Nvidia system works uses the older more saturated colours that make you feel ill if watching without glasses.

Just my thoughts though and not anything conclusive.

The 3D Vision driver is included with many of the most recent nVidia drivers including the latest beta 195.55, look for and run 3DVision_195.55.exe.

3D effects can be enabled\disabled in-game with CTRL+T and there are also other key combos to tweak the depth of the 3D etc.

Find yourself a pair of glasses (cyan\red seems to work better than blue\red) and then download all you need from http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-uk including a full driver\software CD. Once installed open the nVidia Control Panel and check out the Manage 3D Settings and Setup Steroscopic pages, one of which has a couple of tests that you can use to verify it is working and some demo pics. There are also some Demos etc here http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/cool_stuff_uk.html

There are a couple of fairly cheap 22" monitors out http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-120-SA&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat= and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-075-VS&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat= 24" still seem a bit rarer, Hyundai have just announced 22" and 24" 3D Monitors (http://www.tcmagazine.info/comments.php?shownews=30932&catid=2) neither of which are cheap.

Sparkle have also announced they are bundling some glasses with some of their cards http://www.tcmagazine.info/comments.php?id=30941&catid=2&highlight=3d

I had a gfx card a few years back, cant even remember what it was now,but it had a proper pair of chunky black plastic 3D goggles bundled in with it,they had a wire coming out the side with a plug connector that went in the back of the gfx card,i was told it was all quite cool stuff, but alas,i was so busy with GPL and the games du jour that i never even used them.. :(.
Did that technology or ideas ever come to anything?...

the colours used by channel 4 are blue/yellow, the gfx cards use the old skool red/green, so they wont work. 3d discover glasses come wih most new nvidia cards, check with your chosen supplier for details.

It does look very good in evo but I get huge headaches after a while. You r supposed to inch up the depth as you get used to it more because for it to work properly your eyes need to set focus beyond the surface of the monitor. The more i use it the better it gets but I wouldnt want to use the 3d discover fulltime, it murders the colours on screen with the tinted glasses.

there you go. I did record a video with fraps but it captures the left adn right eyes pictures side by side instead of on top of each other. Ill record a video later.
