Congrats Steve on double win, and to podium runners in both races. And of course to everyone, it was very clean and racing from my perspective.
1 tap in race 1 in turn 2, done by me on A. or S. Ames, not sure who. We managed to keep going without losing speed so I hope it was fine on your side.
1 tap in race 2 in hairpin with @Jopamir I think. You out-brake yourself and we touched as I was cutting back on your inside, did that affect you?
I really needed time to get used to these cars. To prove it: my best time (to that point of the evening) was done on last lap of race 1. After that, whole race 2 I had faster pace than any lap before that. :D

Good racing guys, that was great fun! I was faster than I expected since I haven't raced online in R3E for a while. Even surprised myself at keeping Mr Kenwood within reach throughout the first race, no idea where that fastest lap came from! Was chuffed with P2.

Race two was also going well initially. Had a great battle with @Blinding Tube at one point, side-by-side through multiple corners without swapping a single fleck of paint. Great driving mate! Found myself in 4th after a few laps and had a good chance at catching the two guys in front, but... well, you can watch the last minute of my stream above. Tiny slide in the fast right-hander, one rear wheel touched the gravel, WOOSH! Spun off the track and into the wall, instant death to the engine! What a shame!

Oh well, :poop: happens! It was still damn good fun. :D

Here we go:

Welcome to the RaceDepartment WTCR Series! This will be a stint of races over the next five weeks, the idea being to add a little friendly competition to our club racing. These events remain open to drivers of all levels, so please don't be afraid to sign up! Details of the calendar are as follows:

25/07/20 - Rounds 1 & 2: Imola - Grand Prix
01/08/20 - Rounds 3 & 4: Hockenheimring - Grand Prix

08/08/20 - Rounds 5 & 6: Nürburgring - Sprint
15/08/20 - Rounds 7 & 8: Hungaroring - Grand Prix
22/08/20 - Rounds 9 & 10: Zandvoort - Grand Prix

Before you sign up, please be aware of the following:

1) Participation in all events in the series is not mandatory. You can sign up or not, as you please.

2) If you sign up for an event then you are expected to finish both races. It's just good sportsmanship and shows respect to your fellow drivers.

3) Points will be awarded for each race and tracked over the series, but there are no prizes. It's just for fun.

4) Every driver should try to use a unique livery. Please state your chosen car & number when you sign up.

5) Full damage will be enabled, which includes the flat-spotting of tyres.

6) Our regular club rules are still in effect. The Golden Rule absolutely still applies to these events.

@Goffik, you breezed past me in race 2, and a few laps after your pirouette I managed to do the same, albeit no contact with the wall. Must be that gravel on track! ;)
Yeah, my smash was a pretty unlucky one really. Literally just one wheel was enough to initiate the spin. Then instead of heading in the direction of my momentum, which would have meant possible survival, my fronts still had enough grip to kind of "guide" me to the right and into the wall instead. If I hadn't counter-steered (almost impossible, natural reaction) I probably would have been ok. :p

Oh by the way, regarding the discussion on penalties and them being harsher if you cut the inside of a corner, I got a drive-through penalty for this:

I got the "Something went wrong on our servers, please try again" message. Looking at Sector 3's forums, I see nothing about the servers being down today, so maybe this is an isolated issue? Goodness I hope not. The one day I get a decent chunk of time to test the car at the track, and the game refuses to play ball. It must be an omen or something.

Making a post about it on S3's forum.

I had the same thing this evening. The other day all my paid content was missing. Weird stuff has been happening lately.

A very enjoyable evenings racing last night. Thank you everyone.

I've not raced for a few years so pleased that my pace was not too bad. Although it was more a case of trying to hold off the faster guys for as long as possible and watching nsfast Jr's battles ahead  .

Thanks for organising I'm sure we'll be back for more.
