GTR 2 CC VR Settings

Calling it CC VR to distinguishes from VorpX VR.

Using a i7 7700k @ 4.8 and a RTX 2070 and a first gen WMR 1440 x 1440 resolution headset.
First read here:

Using Nvidia Profile Inspector
Antiailiasing compatibility 0x004412C1 Diablo III
Frame Rate Limiter V3 180FPS, use that for monitor use.
4 X Multisampling
4 X Sparse Grid Super Sampling

CrewChief.ini , changes to default settings.
changeProcessAffinity = 0xFF // Played with 0xAA to only use real cores as I did with Process Lasso but see no difference.
enableSteamVRRendering = 1 // enable VR
menuOverlayDistance = 2.000000 // For me nicer than 1.5
menuOverlayCurvature = 0.100000 // better for a 1440 x 1440 headset

Having a monitor 2560 x 1080 are likely giving me some restrictions in respect to windows resolution.
If I select vertical windows or full screen resolutions over 1080 I can't move the mouse down to the lower part of the screen and therefor can't start the session :(
That is regardless of what resolution I set the monitor too. It has no issue running 3840 x 2160 @ 144 hz but still prevent the mouse to go lower on the screen than 1080
Also find that 4:3 resolutions gives me the best AA
After trying a lot my best display settings are 1680 x 1050 with 150% Supersampling.
Noticed that some none 4 : 3 aspect resolutions do not work well with regards to AA.
Same as in VorpX.

Gives me very clear cockpits and close up details and fair enough more more distant track details.
Pretty much on par with sharpness and details in dx11 race sims.
Some info on reddit let me to believe that is just how 32bit apps are dealt with in WMR currently.

Defview.cam in UserData.
LocalCam=COCKPIT
{
Fov=(105.000000, 105.000000) // 95 -110 are good for me
Clear=True
Color=(164, 218, 249)
ClipPlanes=(0.37500, 500.000000) // 0.37500 in some mods it does cut cockpit parts away but only slight when turning head 90 degrees.
And the higher you can have the Near Clip Plane the less texture flicker

Perfectly happy with both visuals and performance with graphics on max.
Can have some light stutter at race start in rain but otherwise butter smooth and prefect AA.

Have none of the tracking issues other have talked about. Lost tracking slowly one evening but after removing the headset i realized it had become pitch dark in my play area and lights on solved that.

So very happy with this VR solution 3D are absolutely perfect for me and just sitting in the cockpit it is hard not to reach out trying to flip a switch.:)
Apart from AMS 2 on Nordschleife I have not bothered with other sims in VR since this came out and frankly very surprised it has not generated more attention ?

All I remember about d3d9.dll with GTR2 or Race07 concerned sometimes a problem between different softwares using this same dll.
Mostly the problem was a not working XD.

And one of those softwares sometimes ( if not often ) was MSI Afterburner.
Should you use it ? ..... I think I remember it was using this same d3d9.dll ( maybe not any longer ? but I really don't know ).

Ok.
And you do not have comp ability set for the Gtr2exe?
I run both gtr2.exe and gtr2Config.exe as administrator. That way the config.ini used are the local on in the gtr2 folder

Go to folder Gtr2\plugins
Open crewChief.ini
Check
enableSteamVRRendering = 1
Make sure it is set to 1

Now run gtr2Config.exe again select 1680 X 1050 or 1260 x 1024 it is just for the menu so what ever is best for you.

Not sure which VR headset you got but just try starting Gtr2.exe if it doesn't go to VR try starting SteamVR before you start gtr2.exe

If all works check the first item in crewChief.ini
changeProcessAffinity = 0xFF
Just set it for how many cores your Cpu got

Hope it now works for you as it is great fun

Sounds good, I will try tomorrow and report.

Yes, the game runs fine on monitor, with enableSteamVRRendering = 0 in the crewchief.ini, same when set to 1.it makes no difference, both setting run on monitor.

In the root of the gtr2 you are running do you have
d3d9.dll ~ about 36kb and
OpenVR_api.dll about 607 kb and
GTR2.exe of 3.4Mb
In the plugins folder of same gtr2 install you need Crewchief.dll and crewchief.ini

Are you using Crew Chief app and does it work for you in that install?

What happen with the 0xc0000005 error code?

I cannot run the game with d3d9.dll, i get the 0xc0000005 error code.
without d3d9.dll it runs fine (on monitor)

I cannot use CC, since it install d3d9.dll every time I try.

I do have Crewchief.dll and crewchief.ini in the plugin folder in GTR@ folder.

CC proposes me each time to install its files into GTR2
As I know they are already there I click on "No" or whatever the negative mention.

And .... that still works perfectly.

NB: and finally I wonder why it's always asked each time you launch GTR2 Crewchief while it's not the case for AC for example.
As long as the version is unchanged I don't know the meaning of this process.... maybe just the fact that this CC part is rather new and might change a lot at the beginning. ;)

Jempy - check CC preferences to disable automatic plugin update, but bear in mind that there are many updates coming, so keep an eye on CC release notes and main thread. Automatic plugin update does not work well with copy pastable games like GTR2.

Had an Win 10 update yesterday that changed a little on the window placement on the monitor so I could not select lower lines in menu on VR display.
The fix is to go to the monitor view and move the onscreen window to top of screen.
Not sure why it will not default to that settings like it has done before.

Did experience some micro stutter from time to time so tried switching on GPU Scheduling in Windows.
While i have no test measured facts it feels just a tad more smooth with it on in Gtr2 VR.
Worth trying out.
