gtl freeze

during the last races i suffer from a freeze problem. every time i make a race atleast at one point the screen freezes for some seconds. i didn't have this problem in the past in gtl. i have the latest drivers instaled and also set down the video card settings to no effect.
do you have this problem too? were you able to solve it?
looking fwd to your ideas.

I've never had freezing problems, but PM Warren.
He was having issues with both GTL and GTR-E at one stage. I assume he's gotten his issues fixed as I haven't heard of him having anymore freezes lately.

Yep, I've been getting the problem regularly with both GTRE and GTL.
And I haven't found a fix yet, it is very random. Often I can race a full race with no freezes, and then "bam' out of nowhere. I even had a GTL freeze this week while practicing off-line.
I've tried many things based on advice from several forums, but no solution yet.
Very frustrating.

Fraid so, identical. I'd had it a couple of times with GTL on-line, but this was the first time off-line.
For me, this proves that it is not simply a GTRE issue. :at-wits-end:

thank you aii for the replies. fingers crossed i solved the problem. i did a pc check and found out that a file called msvcr71.dll is corrupted. this file is part of the internet connection within the windows program system32.( for xp)/ did some google search and found out that if this file is corrupted it will cause problems with the internet connection and lower frame rate because the pc is working too hard.
i downloaded the file and installed it over the corrupt one. so far it solved my problem.
warren maybe, just maybe this is your problem too.

Thanks Amir, I'll certainly check it out. However, my problems occur off-line as well as on-line, so it is doubtful that is my issue.
How did you know it was corrupted??

warren i had this problem offline too. it started after i fixed my videocard about a week ago. everytime i started the pc i had a notifiction that this file is corrupt. i ignored it until last night race .

after more reserarch in the forums i found out that the new drivers that nvdia released cause a lot of freeze problems. i downloaded the older version called 182 and i am happy to say that so far i had no freezing problems.
