Welcome back home, Rupe! Hope they fixed the right bits this time and that you'll feel much better soon!

I made it for both races this time!:) And even remembered this track from long ago, so the first half of the night wasn't bad at all!
Despite only getting 3 timed laps in in P1, my Q1 lap went a whole lot better and I managed 3rd! A good race start even got me into the lead for a short while, but Antonio was so much faster he could put full pressure on me, and it wasn't long 'til I cracked and ran wide. I just went on and by making only a few mistakes I could hang on to 2nd place for quite a while. Near the end however Steven closed in at a rather disturbing speed so my finishing in 3rd place really was the best possible result for me.:)

Then came the Lotus.. quite a different story. I really couldn't come to grips with this cars' behaviour. Where the default Elite at least has somewhat of a powerband, this one had more like a powerspike between 7500 and 8000 revs. It didn't suit my (lazy) driving style at all and I completely screwed up R2 start. It bogged down so bad I think more than half the field passed me at the start. After a few laps I found myself completely alone on track, then spent half the race fighting just the car, so I decided to slow down a bit to maybe have a little fight with Hiroshi and Allan who were behind me.
That went pretty well, unfortunately Hiroshi spun soon after that, but I had some good fun with Allan and... got beaten:cry:;)

So had some good fun after all but that car will not make my favs list.. In fact, if anyone's interested you can have it for cheap free.:whistling:

Thanks Steven for helping out with forum duties, and thanks all for racing!

EDIT Oh and I almost forgot: Welcome @Milos Litavec, hope you enjoyed your first race here. As mentioned in chat the Lotus is not an easy car to debut in, but it was good to see you were nicely up to speed in the Escort in Qualy 2. Don't worry about the out-of-fuel problem, we've all been there at some point:D

It's really nice to have you back so soon Rupe, I do hope your recovery will be fast.

Had a nice first race with the escort; after start I found myself behind Roland and after I manage to pass I did a lonely race until finish. Steve was faster than me in practice, but I think he didn't qualify and got traffic ahead at start, which allowed me to build a comfortable distance.

Race 2, with the Lotus, was another story. Like Roland, I had a very bad start because the engine stalled on low revs. After some laps I was in 5th, I think, behind Denis Betty with whom a had a great clean fight. After a while I managed to climb to second position and trying to reach Paulo Borges, who was in front with an Escort. The task was hard, because he had an advantage of 4 or 5 secs and there weren't much laps to go. My only chance was to go as fast as I could to be as close as possible in case he committed a mistake, soI decided to adopt a "maxium attack" strategy that didn't work out, because I got carried away when I saw the gap close a little and made an excursion through the grass that cost me 3 positions.
Anyway, despite a worst result than first race, it was more fun because of the close racing episodes.

Also another welcome @Milos Litavec . Despite he told us he was new in racing and didn't have much experience, he paid attention to the mirrors and had an impeccable behavior while being overlapped in the end of the race.

Yes i was confused with Lotus as no race with this car before-my fault- race1 was big shame.
In Escort i felt quite better and no last qualify time rised up my confidence.I had only few online races on GTR2 public servers, so this event was my first GTL online .I was in stress little bit and also forgot
to refill fuel from qualify , started with 5 liters or so .The rest of race i sat in pit with beer and cigarette and watched nice fights between Denis-Antonio and Steve-Markus, it was nice race evening anyway.
Thank you all for take me to this community, this game and cars are very nice, breathtaking.i´m
looking forward next events and also will more practice and self-prepare before race.
Guys, see you on the track soon

Thanks for good event gentlemen! Grats Antonio and Paolo for wins and Steve, Denis and Roland for podiums! Thanks Rupe for nicely matched event & get well soon!

All in all fun event. In Q1 and R1 I was struggling a bit to get familiar with lotus but after first half of the race I was quite comfortably in mid-pack. Then I started to get it wrong and face problems with severe understeer with originally tail happy car, going badly straight of the track three times :p

Q2 I was more comfortable with escort and better grid position, but on lap1 trying to navigate two wide to T2 I missed my turn in point and off we go again :)

The rest of the race went without big flaws, and for number of laps tried defend 3rd position against @Steven Walker lotus. Steve was faster in terms of raw speed but in my opinion escorts were faster and I had quite short gearing to accelerate out of the corners so I probably had upper hand in terms of vehicle.

Very tight but clean racing I think and lots of fun too! Last lap Steve did great overtake after back straight to get 3rd second time to podium, which was pretty good job in Lotus! And by my calculations the best finish with Lotus in either race!

@Milos Litavec , well done in R1 with no earlier experience about Lotus :)

I'm glad the (rupe) already be in good health, this game needs you all the best for you.
First of all, I wish to thank Hiroshi by sending me the replay, Exeter to see it realized I made two mistakes. I give two rings, one on António Tavares and the Kjell Eilertsen, hope not to have impeded your race, I apologize.
Already some time ago, I gave a tap on Steve Walker with vw scirocco mk1 on track Halle saale, you ended up ruining the race and I did not realize. It gave me the feeling that he was upset with me. One of the reasons why I stopped playing in GTL was spoiling for nãovoltar race anyone else. The other day when entering the server saw that he had not been angry, he understood it was not on purpose.
(You're a good friend, Steve).
Coming back to race, have not had time to practice so I took the ESCORD but knew the track because I run it in Formula Truck. I started in last but I had the fortune of others have made some mistakes and I quickly pasted to the front, when I knew I was in third. Second was the Denis Betty, you made a mistake, then moved on to the second and front was Jacob Booustra, was fast and pretty straight forward.( good batlle)
My only option was to get as close to him as possible, thus exerting pressure he could commit...an error. After 4 or 5 laps he makes a mistake and then I went to the first. Second came the Antonio seconds of me because I was ahead and ESCORT had he LOTS, like missing a few laps he would have to walk on the edge implying mistakes which later came to pass. With Antonio out, took second place to Denis Betty with a distance of 6 or 7 seconds of me was easy to reach will win. It was a good race, I hope to repeat the same experience.
P.s - my staff people has ok:):):):thumbsup:lol

Good to see you back Rupe. Hope you are recovering nicely m8 and look forward to seeing you on track or teamspeak soon.

The race night was pretty good for me. I had done quite a few laps around the track practicing and setting up the cars so I was fairly confident of good pace. With this in mind (and with Rupe in hospital) I decided to try and keep the forum thread updated and not to qualify for both races. This also had an added benefit of allowing me the chance to work on my race craft (overtaking and such) because I am fairly weak in that area.

So, race 1 started with me near the back of the field and as the lights went out I managed to get a fairly good start enabling me to make up a few places but a little further down the track I made the wrong decision to overtake on the outside and my wheels just caught the grass on the right and dragged me in to the outfield. :poop: I decided to stay on the grass rather then rejoin straight away and risk causing an accident and this put me dead last. Oh well. Never mind.
I just got my head down and pressed on and as luck would have it @Ken Hunter dropped a clanger on the main straight which caught out about half the field :sneaky: Thanks Ken  This brought me back into contention and I was quickly up to the front runners. My race was going fairly well up until about lap 8 or 9 when I caught up to a late braking, always tricky to pass @Roland Warmenhoven who effectively arrested my forward progress until the last lap when I finally managed to figure out how to make a safe pass taking me to a 2nd place finish. Nice one Roland.

Race 2 started very similarly to race 1 with me getting a fairly good start in the Lotus and yet again, after gaining a few places, I clipped the grass on the outside of the track and it dragged me into the outfield. That magnetic grass is a pain in the arse  So, after rejoining the track safely and not losing too many places I set about working my way through the field again. I was quickly behind my old nemesis Roland and yet again found him hard to pass.
I found that I was missing my braking points a little when driving close to another car which meant I was making little mistakes and not being able to capitalise on any speed advantage I might had made. Eventually I missed another braking point and went wide giving the closely following @Markus Hakamo an easy pass. It wasn't long before he showed me how to overtake Roland and soon after that Roland made a mistake and gave me the easy pass that I had given Markus
With the lap count at about 6 or 7 of 12 I settled down to try and do some consistant laps and rapidly caught up to Markus and that was as far as I got. I found him incredibly difficult to overtake and we had a fantastic clean close battle until the last lap. I think markus tried to keep too tight to the inside curb in the fast left at the end of the main straight and slowed a little allowing me to carry my normal speed in and drive around the outside of him giving me the inside for the next corner. This gave me a hard earned 3rd place finish and well done to Markus for resisting my pressure and thanks for giving me such a pleasurable race.

Also a big well done to @Denis Betty for a well deserved 2nd place podium spot for him in round 2. I said that I would make a video about this race and I will, but it's just a question of finding enough spare time. I'll post it up as soon as it's done.

Also a big well done to @Denis Betty for a well deserved 2nd place podium spot for him in round 2.
Thanks Steve and to the others who have congratulated me. It was my first podium and although I rode my luck a bit, I'm dead chuffed. It might be a while before I repeat this achievement so don't hold yer breath.
