Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
really wish i could have finished the race and not quit on L2, but thanks anyway for setting up this event
You didn't quit James. You did the responsible thing. You can't help your internet connection and ping. I just hope you can find a solution one day that will let you join us on a regular basis. We have some rage quitters, but you aren't one of them.

@JoelK How can you be so fast? Same car, same-ish setup and you are 4-5-6-infinite seconds faster :confused: I just don't get. Maybe I just can't get faster.
You'll get there. I was once at the back of the pack in EU races and now I'm a little ahead of where I was. Keep working on it, reading or watching things about car setup and then go and try to develop your craft in all areas. I can give you a little guide for drivers that aren't familiar with car setups and maybe it will help:)

Hmm. I don't know what to say.
  • When I tried the 650s (once) I just couldn't cope with the Boost effect. Also, it felt too light for me.
  • When I tried the Nismo, tried until the last moment to make it steer but the understeer was killing me. So I switched to something else right before the race.
  • When I tried the Ferrari seemed like I was changing the gears like crazy when accelerating, even if I was with them at set at maximum for the top speed. Maybe the car was not good for that track? Also, the boost kills me.
  • I tried the SCG once. The sound was amazing but that will be all. Don't remember anything about it other than that. I think was alike the Ferrari?
  • Never tried the AMG and never will.
  • Never tried the 911 GT3. I raced the GT3 Cup version. Maybe not the same, but I really don't like that big pendulum effect of the Porsche.
  • Never drove the BMW Z4. Maybe I should? Does it have a boost? :))
  • The Lambo felt nice for a couple of races. But it was fast on long straights, not really on twisted bits. Maybe I should go back to that?
  • The R8 feels good. Feels reactive. When I apply the throttle I don't have to wait for the boost to come. Although it slides pretty easily when you overdrive.
Funny you say that about the 650S because it has the most downforce of any of the GT3 cars. The Boost effect is because the rear of the car with the stock setup is stiffer than a 16 year old guy taking Viagra:confused::D You gotta take the piss and vinegar out of the rear. It's part of the reason that it struggles in straight line speed...........to much drag unless you are @Chris Down in which case he rips the rear wing off of it and runs helium in the rear tires:roflmao:
The Nissan is just a miserable beast for me. It's insanely fast, super torque, can run softs at almost any track, but in my hands it handles like a bulldozer:unsure: I don't know how the guys get it to corner, but the ones that can? When they come by you, you can hear MC Hammers "You Can't Touch This" blaring out of the cockpit, especially at places like Road America. Freaking nightmare.
The Godfather aka Ferrari is a car that you have to shift as soon as you see the first red light. After that, you lose torque and hp. @Celtic Pharaoh knows the numbers better than I, but he is who I learned it from.
The SCG you'll fight getting a correct gearing for some tracks, but the :alien: can really make it walk the walk.
AMG in the right hands is a good all around car.
The 911? Here's a pair of rear tires I used the last time I ran it

and you'll really struggle to run softs, but I've seen some of the quick guys do it. It's a tough car to tame. It has the woooooooooooooorst rear diffuser of the lot which is why it usually takes more wing than you want to run.
The Z4 does a pretty good job. @JoelK used it a lot.
The Lambo is the lightest GT3 car and is only matched in power by the Nissan, but the Bull has a better power to weight ratio. I used the Lambo when I started because the power helped me run a little higher in the field than my talent would allow:cautious: You should give it a serious run for 4 to 6 races and see how you do. Most of know our cars biggest weaknesses and strengths.
The R8 is a good car, look at Joel, but I can't get enough pace out of it. I believe both the Audi and Lambo are normally aspirated.

So there you go. A simple run down of the cars from a guy that can't drive a nail:whistling:

I have that topic open every time when I start the PC at home ;)

That made me laugh so loud that my colleagues thought I am insane :roflmao::roflmao:

Yeah. They are. Don't know if the BMW is. I really don't get the turbo (boost) effect on all the other cars. You have to be so patient with the throttle and if you just miss the moment, the turbo will just spin you around. I don't have enough patience to understand how does it work :cautious::sleep:

And he drives that nail to P5 or higher

Don’t have a problem with turbo boost, you can normally dial it out in setup, i’m Obviously not
including cars like 900hp 911’s, but generally you can, but don’t expect the fastest laps with those
settings but you can expect to do many laps. Horses for courses.
Don’t get confused with the fast drivers, they will go for an unstable car, relying on their talent to keep it all together, when I get lapped I alway watch to see what’s going on, eventually, now I can see the extra time they are making over me.

As one of the “leading” old “muppet” drivers, I am quite happy to go for one of my muppet setups.:roflmao:
