Okay, I'll chime in and defend the DBR9. This has historically been my favorite car even though I cheated at BRNO and went with the smoother feeling Audi. The Aston is such a balanced car with acceptable power so as not to get left behind by the Vette in the straights. Agreed that it's a more stable car and easier to drive than the Vette but there's always tradeoffs.... pros and cons... right. I'll lose precious tenths down the long straight... just to force me to make it up in the turns which makes it difficult to pass the faster car in the straights as most turns have only one preferred fast line through them so you almost just have to press hard in the turns and pressure the vette or saleen into a mistake. WHEREAS with the higher Horsepower cars, you can set up the pass for the straight stretches and blow by at 170 mph.... a much easier pass.....

So, I can agree (and will hear your argument) that consistent lower lap times are easier in the Aston HOWEVER, In the middle of close competition and racing, it's certainly not easier to overtake in the Aston.

This is truly what I love about GT racing... AND I love the debate like this one where our ture affections for each of our favorite cars come out.

The aston should be good here because of stability and power combo. I view it in this way.... The Audi is generally easier to drive at most tracks. It also has less power under the hood. The Aston is a decent blend and balance. The vette is high on the power end but the torque makes it a bit touchy exiting turns causing a "dicier" proposition in getting back on the throttle early. If someone can handle the vette... it's a real bear to try to pass as it's so strong in the straights....

The other competitors I'm less familiar with.... the Viper is pure muscle down the straights but not much in cornering.... The Saleen has always been another competitor that hasn't gotten tons of attention but I think is a fantastic performer.... at least I've seen it do great things. It seems a little tail happy but it's got the power to hang with the fastest!! I can't really speak to the rest of the cars as I've not driven in or against them as much as the Vette, Aston and Saleen. I do love the variety of our GT races that makes up this interesting racing dynamic!!! Can't wait for tonight!
