GSC 2012 re-install problems

I recently upgraded my PC from Win XP to Win 8.1 and I'm currently re-installing all my sims. GSC 2012 will only start from desktop when I right click run as administrator. I also need to make adjustments to the plr file but when I try to save the changes it tells me access denied. Does anybody know how to fix these problems?

Do not install the game in C:\program files, if you want to avoid admin or access denied type problems.
For example, install in C:\GSC2012 or C:\Games\GSC2012, I believe this will cure it.

Thanks for the reply Keith, C:\GSC2012 is the default install route so I tried C:\GAMES\GSC2012 but still having the same problems.
