GPL people driving AMS?

Sorry just have to ask because, being a 60s F1 specialist, I'm seeing some awesome 60s F1 driving in MP AMS. These people have to be GPL'ers. Don't they?

rF2 was my hope. But AMS has delivered on 60s F1 for me.

So question 1 is, where are these awesome drivers coming from?

Question 2 is, do I need to get GPL?

Question 3 is, has ISI ever updated any of their historic content?

What is going to be the GPL successor or do I need to just get GPL? But I can't see messing with anything that is not as good as AMS for immersion because AMS is so awesome.

But I have to wonder...will AMS be the new GPL? And if not there must be a reason to the only conclusion I can draw is that I need to get GPL. Unless all these awesome drivers are from GPL and its imminent that AMS is going to be the new GPL?

Codies don't own the license for the 67 season. No one does. Sierra/Papyrus licensed each track, team and driver individually. All Bernie owns is the rights to the name "F1/Formula One", hence GPL does not use that term.

The competition in the simracing space today is a lot greater than when GPL was released and I don't think a sim with just historic content would be a big seller today. Those cars are now 18 years further in the past so unless you are in your sixties you probably don't remember them IRL.

I think AMS is the best you are going to get on this and Reiza have some more historic circuits in the works so with some mod tracks / skins you should be able to make something pretty good.

GPL my second sim game, I never forget when the demo came out ( eagle on Watkins glen ) in june 1998, I was stunned , I played the game 3 years in a row---took a break--then in 2004 I started enjoying all the add on tracks and Mods.

Question 1) We're actually grown on trees in Finland then sent around the world to be as annoying as possible for everyone else.

Question 2) Not really. It's good but dated, a solid single player experience still but probably more effort than it's worth for multiplayer.

Question 3) Yes but not dramatically updated. It's still very good and provides a good drive.

So that CROMS thing is 1965

. What is special about 1967 and not 1966 or 1965 is the amount of power the cars had versus their weight, and that it was before the wings and all the sponsor decals made their way everywhere.

About F1 itself, FOM only started in the 1980's, so before FOM there isn't a F1 season license. You just deal with the teams. Post-FOM creation you can only license a certain number of cars (maybe one team even) individually as to not compete with the officially licensed material.

Hi all...

I drove gpl back then.
Not as much as others but I loved it too...

Personally I started racing here a couple of weeks ago because I was in search of a race with 60's style f1 cars. It's a nice variety to all that down force stuff that you mainly find everywhere.

I found what I was looking for and had massive fun (also because of the people here!!!).

And while I was driving, I had no thought in my mind about correct livery...it was all about challenging the car and keeping it on the road...and that's what it's all about IMO.

Nevertheless...another gui style/skins, let's say, 60's style would be the cherry on the pie!!!
