Microsoft have just deployed the free demo for Turn 10's upcoming Xbox One racing sim, Forza Motorsport 6.

The demo features a small selection of cars and tracks to try, including the much anticipated 2016 Ford GT, and also includes a taste of two features making their series debut: night racing and rain.

In addition, any Xbox One owner who tries the demo will receive a complimentary Ford GT in their career mode garage if they purchase the full game.

Also announced today is the Forza Motorsport 6 Fast & Furious Car Pack, which includes 11 cars used in the popular film series. This pack will be free for those who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of Forza Motorsport 6, and will also be available as a separate purchase on launch day for standard edition owners at a currently undisclosed price at this time.

This pack includes the following cars:
  • 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1968 Dodge Charger Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1969 Dodge Charger Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1970 Ford Escort RS1600 Fast & Furious Edition
  • 2014 Terradyne Gurkha LAPV F5 Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1995 Toyota Supra RZ Fast & Furious Edition
  • 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R Fast & Furious Edition
  • 2002 Nissan Fairlady Z Fast & Furious Edition
  • 2001 Honda S2000 Fast & Furious Edition
Forza Motorsport 6 launches on September 15 in North America and September 18 in Europe, with early access granted to those who pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game on September 10. The final game will include a roster of 460 cars and 26 tracks spanning the globe.

Look forward to seeing RaceDepartment's in-depth review of Forza Motorsport 6 shortly after release.

Tried the demo. Looks absolutely amazing and runs very smoothly.

FFB is way too strong. The puddles are ridiculous. They are way too powerful and will pull our car completely off the road. Unrealistic, IMHO, but I will admit that all settings were at default when I drove in their version of rain. Looking forward to trying yet another racing game.

Played the demo with the gamepad. For a 12GB download, there's not much to race, but what is there is fun. Turning off all assists made the game fairly difficult, although "simulation'" steering was waaaay too sensitive for a thumbstick.

Th standing water is definitely deep on the rain race, hydroplaning happens once you put a tire through it at 80mph. I actually found the hydroplaning physics to be very realistic, and with the rain drifting across the track in sheets to disrupt line of sight, dodging the big puddles was a hellova experience while trading paint with the AI. I'm curious to see how much depth there is to the weather system (do dry lines develop? do puddles grow as it rains more?)

Your assessment is a fair one. The rain looks nice and is challenging but I believe those conditions (including the puddles) are static. I'm still looking forward to racing with some friends.

Didn't really enjoy this much. Being forced to watch the intro every time I started it and no way to skip the intro to section was annoying to say the least. I just get no sense of speed with Forza which takess away from the feeling of racing a great deal. I'll probably give it another go (maybe i'll make a cuppa or two while waiting for the intro to finish!!) but my first and second impressions are not favourable.
