The latest performance open wheel car has been announced for RaceRoom Racing Experience - introducing the Formula RaceRoom X17...!

Based loosely on the looks of a modern 2017 specification Formula One car, what makes this new FRX17 car special is the decision by Sector3 Studios to retain a big, noisy, powerful V10 3.0 litre engine in the back of the car rather than the dreadful Hybrid Power Unit's currently doing the rounds in modern day Grand Prix racing.

The Formula RaceRoom X17 will become the most powerful and downforce efficient car within RaceRoom once it releases later in the year, overtaking the IndyCar style Formula US Dallara released back in February.

With this new car, Sector3 have gone a long way towards completing their open wheel career ladder within the game, having now covered off each step on the way to becoming a top tier Grand Prix driver. From Formula Ford style cars right the way up to Formula 2, IndyCar and Formula One style machinery, RaceRoom now have each rung of the ladder well represented within the title. Considering the very first downforce orientated single seater in the form of the Formula RaceRoom 2 only released back in December 2015, the rate of updating and releasing of new content from Sector3 has been rather impressive.

Now that the new FRX17 has been revealed, and the majority of the major open wheel racing world covered, it remains to be seen if Sector3 will look to develop further open wheel content or return their attentions to the more traditional field of touring and GT specification racing machinery.

The Formula X17 will benefit from the following performance features:
  • 3.0 liter V10
  • 950hp @ 19000 rpm
  • 370Nm @ 17000 rpm
  • 7 speed paddle shift
  • 620 kg including driver
  • 44/56% Weight distribution, including driver, excluding fuel
  • 150 liter fuel tank
  • Maximum theoretical downforce is aprox 2800 kg @ 322 km/h.
  • Traction Control available
  • DRS System
No release date has been confirmed by the Swedish studio, however with the car looking to be in a release ready state and having been teased already several months ago, it is not beyond ones imagination to assume the newest performance formula car could be released as early as the next major build update for the game, either towards the end of May or early June at the latest.

RaceRoom Racing Experience is a free to play simulation exclusive to PC with additional content available to purchase via the in game RaceRoom Store.

It's definitely not 2017 specs, wheelbase and chassis are shorter, which is nicer than the current F1 (I wonder when they'll stop to stretch them :p). As for the engine, I think many people really don't care if the new V6 are more powerful than the 2000's V10, as long as they sound ugly, hence the V10 in the FRX-17 ;)

Yes I was comparing our Formula Hybrid we did last week against the F2 Car , Whats currently been used in 2017 , Wheelbase are really stretched out on these newer cars , Mixed feelings with that one ,
Some cars look good some do not ,
But regarding the audio I do love a good turbo , Always have , The sound is awesome ,
Having said that most of my memories of F1 from the earlier years are all running V10 engine packages ,
Again mixed feelings on this too ,
Imagine the younger generation of today , They will look back in 20 years and everyone will be saying ,
The V6 Turbo Era from today is the best :D
The shock from todays reading was you guys still running DX9 , Which is unreal , I always thought it was DX11 , So well done on that one , graphics are sublime :)

I love the turbo era aswell, but if you heard those F1 in real, you know that we can't compare them with the current F1. The 80's Turbo engines were meaty and "ummhfy", 2017 engines simply sound like moped imo :D

I enjoy the sounds of both the new IndyCar and F1 engines. They don't sound "ugly" per se, they just don't sound as good as their grand parents. If you heard some of the IndyCar turbos before the faction split, you knew what an eargasm really was!

The screaming turbo and the tornado like roar of the blowoff valves as they made it around the circuit at Detroit? If that didn't get to you, nothing could! That said, I do like what Ford is doing with the GT and it sounds great in-game. :thumbsup:

Regarding F1, I do so miss the engine variations in the series. So much so that you could name a driver just by hearing him drive by. The Mugen V10 was so much my favorite. Being an American V8 born and bred, just hearing 10 cylinders at work was sexy enough. By the way Sec 3, when do we look for a Viper? :ninja:
 
Love R3E, but I have the feeling these cars are going to have way too much downforce, if Formula US is any indication.

Do you have any idea just how much downforce these F1 cars generate? If anything games never seem to replicate the downforce well enough.
The idea that top spec race cars should be slipping around everywhere is a curious fairy tale constructed by some areas of the sim racing community......
If you ever had a go in a real F1 car you'd most likely call it 'simcade'.....

Let me make the context of my remark clearer with this question. Do you think the current Indycar spec could take Eau Rouge flat out with ease? In R3E, Formula US which is based on the Dallara DW12, doesn't even break a sweat, it's barely a corner.

If I ever had a go in a real F1 car I'd probably puke after a few laps.

what kind of setup do you have on the DW12 for Spa ?

I don't really know, but Eau Rouge is also flat out with the DW12 in iRacing and Project Cars, and it's rather unlikely that all 3 sims have gotten it wrong.
