That 5th place on the aero track was good. Starting to build up some PP for tier 2.

God knows how I'll beat BRM though, especially without Clark

The 1969 season is over ! Congratulations to the winners !

Off Season instructions will follow...

Well considering Clark finished only 3 of the 6 engine races, that's a pretty good effort. And it's also good that he beat Rindt despite 1 extra DNF overall. Even though we both lost to Gurney who only retired once at an aero track.

I liked the way me and Rob Walker pinched Lotus away from the win sponsor too. Was expecting them to dominate for 2-3 seasons but they threw that completely with the sponsor choice.

The German experience (1955-58)

Jack Brabham began his Formula One career with Mercedes in 1955. He raced alongside the promising French driver Jean Behra but the car wasn’t good enough to even catch a point.

The 1956 season was no different but they had some hope when Mercedes announced that they will leave Formula One to let the German seat to Porsche in 1957. However, the Porsche chassis was no better than his older sister and it was pretty hard for Brabham to show himself. Nevertheless, in 1958, he and his new teammate, Graham Hill, managed to catch six Top 10 during the season. Enough this time to catch Tobi Kederer’s eyes, the Rob Walker Racing manager who just became Word Champion.

Rob Walker Racing and the first titles (1959-61)

What a surprise it was when Kederer announced that he hired Jack Brabham to replace Onofre Marimon as his 2nd driver for 1959. For now, Brabham hasn’t scored a single point in Formula One and Kederer was offering him the best car on the grid. He musted feel or see something that nobody felt for now… And Kederer was right ! Brabham managed to win 3 races in his first season and bring the WCC home while Stirling Moss got the WDC with Ferrari.

Moss contract was getting to an end and Kederer got the opportunity to hire the newly crowned champion while Peter Collins wanted to leave the team. Once again, Brabham managed to win 3 races and bring the WCC home for Rob Walker but failed to become World Champion.. this time against Mike Hawthorn on a very fast but not reliable BRP.

Finally, 1961 was the good one and Rob Walker scored a hundred points (a record that has just be beaten by Lotus in 1969) while Jack Brabham became World Champion with 5 wins and 7 podiums in 10 races.

Brabham Racing Organisation (1962-69)

To see him signing with Rob Walker in 1959 was a surprise but it was nothing compares to what happened just before the 1962 season. Brabham newly crowned, he told Kederer that a company, Motor Racing Developments Ltd. (MRD) bought back his contract. But what Kederer didn’t know, was that Jack Brabham was the co-funder of this company and that they would take part in Formula One from 1962. Brabham became the owner and the n°1 driver of his own F1 team « Brabham Racing Organisation »

The first seasons weren’t good at all.. First with Richie Ginther, then with Mike Hawthorn, Brabham had to wait for 1965 to get the team their first podium (a second place in South Africa) by himself. The new BT20 car was now good enough to compete for the wins and Jack Brabham won both titles in a fantastic 1966 season.

At the age of 41, Brabham is now 2 time world champion and decided to continue his racing career even if he knew then that his best years were behind him. The results of the different BT26s through the end of the 60’s were decent but Brabham decided to focus fully on his team management alongside Omer Said from 1970 to make Brabham Racing great again.
