Hey look at that I am up. :p

I will sign up and go get my wheel if someone on TS can take me through the track a couple times.. Otherwise this is going to be worse than last time and I would prefer not getting involved.

It is not so much about being a noob to this track specifically as it is being a noob to long corners like on this track and watkins. >_>

Oh bugger it. Mexico #22 is the green one right? I guess I may as well sign up eh. :/

Yes, it was me spinning my way right across the grid at the start of race 1! Apologies to everyone that got caught up in that debacle. Apologies also to Senad, who I believe I sandwiched against a wall not knowing he was even there later in the race. All in all, a pretty poor showing from me in that one!

I made sure I was at the back of the grid for race 2 to avoid any more idiocy on my part. Thankfully I got away ok though. :p The race itself went better, though I spun three times on the same corner. Still, I was quite happy with myself until the last lap, when in a lapse of concentration I hit the tyres of doom at full whack. End of race. Doh!

I will attempt to redeem myself next week...

I have my replay settings maxed but do not really have a good enough connection to have perfectly silky smooth opponents. Though tbh I have not tried telling GTL that I have a connection faster than IDSN. I should to that next practice. The only issue I can think of is if something else tries to use it at the same time then GTL might not be getting data as fast as it requires. Technically I could be trying the 768k dsl option since that is a hair lower than what I have. Next practice we will see.

Nice to back with the GTL friendlies again, although this car & track combo felt like jumping in at the deep end. To say I was rusty would be an understatement, it's been a while and I have a new Wheel to get used to as well. As usual though, this was still heaps of fun.

Just before Qualy, Eck gave us his gearbox settings which seemed to need 1st gear for the tight turn. Unfortunately, I was stuffing around with setups as the Race was loading, lowering my excess fuel level, but somehow I stuffed up and had default gearing. That would soon bite me in the bum.

Race 1 start was the most hilarious I have seen in ages. :D Ross fishtailed across track and pushed me into the fence, Hans fishtailed left into the wall, Eck took forever to get off the line and then eventually fishtailed into Roland and bounced across track into Jack, Ian sat there wheel spinning, Jacob missed it completely to become an obstacle to Senad, funny as a circus. :D :D:D
At the first tight turn, I downshifted and the car lurched left but somehow I missed the wall. Next came the tighter right hander where I expected to be safe dropping to first (still thinking I had Eck's gearing), hit 1st gear and immediatley spun across track taking Eck with me. DOH!! Sorry Eck. I then realised I had the default gearing and knew to avoid 1st gear.
After all that excitement, I finally settled into trying to race and get used to the car. I passed lots of others but only due to them having problems, spins etc.
Someone should have told Senad that the Escort has 5 gears, I passed him in both races down the long straight like he was standing still. Either that or he was towing an invisible caravan. :p

Race 2 had another exciting start but nothing like race 1. I actually managed a fast start (incredible I know ) and lept pass a stagnant Eck to drop in behind Stuart. Unfortunately, I may have braked a tad early for the tight right hander and Jack tagged me, sending us both to the back. No problems Jack, I was probably trying to be too safe. Again I passed others during the race as the usual carnage took place. These Escorts take some getting used to.

All in all, great fun, lousy driving from me, but hopefully I can get back some rhythm with more races.
Thanks to Stu for the event, and grats on two wins. Nice results for Roland and Jack (race 1) too. :)

I broke Stu's rules 1, 2, and 3 a few laps into race 1. That is all I am going to say about that. <_< >_>

Race 2 was going much better for me until a couple laps from the end where I slipped too much and put the Escort's aerodynamics to the ultimate test!
On one hand it was hilarious and fun.. On the other hand I was getting some fairly consistent times and finishing would have been nice.

For all the talk of this car slipping = certain death I seem to recall pushing the back a bit too hard on multiple occasions and still being able to recover. The one exception being my escape attempt of course. hehehehe. :D
Knowing not to do something and actually not doing it are very different things!

I just rolled my ankle stepping off the podium.

I had a good race 1 but unfortunately at the start I could not avoid Eck :( as he took a hard exit left from somewhere. I didn't wait for him but I probably should have in the spirit of GTL....now I can sleep. He later passed me anyway.

Race 2 didn't go as planned. I had practiced for the first track but not for the second and I struggled with the new section. Barely got a couple complete laps in practice so I knew I would have to be a quick learner. I had a great start and was in the front running right behind Warren feeling good but I misjudged his approach in the uphill right -hander and I bumped him as we negoiated the turn and with these cars that's all that it takes. I ended up on the opposite side of the track head-first in a barrier. I waited for him and away we went. I later went off again at the end of the new section at the long right-hander and received steering damage which made turning to the right a little tricky but still very drivable ( no excuse for my poor result). Well, I struggled, had at least two or three more serious offs and with one lap to go I hit the tires of doom just past the starting straight and received a game suspension. I must say that Roland was flying and Ross quickly improved his second race as I was behind him for a while but I could not catch him.

Using an old Scottish saying "Cheers all";) , great track Stu and challenging car.

PS Score Race 2: Europeans 1 Canadians 0
