Engineers from both companies are studying how to cooperate on a joint vehicle that will be an "iconic," lightweight, rear-drive roadster with differentiated design and identity for each brand, a joint statement said. The car would be based on the MX-5 architecture.
Pretty neat. Looking forward to see a new RWD Alfa:thumbsup:

So will it be a Fiat or is it simply Fiat who will co-operate with Mazda meaning it could very well be Alfa Romeo as Christopher says?

A new Alfa roadster would be great, the 8C is quite possibly one of the most beautiful cars ever. Especially the front end, for me that front end is perfection down to the millimetre.

Why are they still producing RX-8 then if the Wankel engine was dead? Have I missed something?

A MX-5-like car with Wankel engine. Now that's what I'd like to see.

While this may be the end for the rotary sports car in the near-term, Mazda has made it clear that the manufacturer isn't giving up on its rotary heritage any time soon.

Hopefully they find a way to make it work under stricter emissions standards:thumbsup:

Awww. First at Le Mans(Curse you FIA!), now on the road.

Everybody hurts:(

I hope the same, it somehow must be possible to limit emissions, even for the rotary concept. I thought of it to be a very good invention.

(If there was another season of RDLMS, I'd drive a Courage-Mazda:D)
