All, you can leave your Feedback / Suggestions / Proposals for the Historic racing Club in here.

The only provisos that I have are the following:-
  1. Please have a glance back through the thread once it grows a little, to see if your suggestion/question etc has already been answered. For example, I've said a few times now that I won't be running F1 mods, so don't keep asking or suggesting that.
  2. Don't expect that, just because you propose something, it will be implemented, immediately or otherwise. We will have to do our research.
  3. Don't just spam full a load of mods that meet the car age criteria - we have limited time slots, so we cannot do everything. See the comment re: research above - we will NOT be taking anyone's word for anything - we will try things out ourselves.
  4. Let's keep it civil - you may not agree with someone's suggestion, but that doesn't mean you can just pour scorn on them or their suggestion.
I look forward to reading what you have to say...

Are you assuming that I haven't driven Historix but am dismissing it anyway, Wayne?

I've driven it a lot, on and offline, and even run a few (poorly attended) events here at RD.

I'm not much for knocking things without having tried them - I just happen to disagree with you.

My point is that Historix offers the same vehicles as GTL give or take, I just feel it'd be a better use of our limited slots to not duplicate available vehicles.

You know I don't think that Boss.

The thing with it is you get more cars ie added that for reasons I don't get never make it to GTL.

One other thing i think that would work really well is like 1 time every 4 weeks or some thing like that you could do a 2 hour race with driver swaps that is some thing i think would work really well and also might bring more drivers in to join in the fun

I've raced a few leagues with Hysterix (not a typo), its much ado about nothing.

Why?, when the models used, have a single texture in GTL, do they require upto 8 textures in rF?. Why?, when all you're basically doing, is converting a model. Do you need to rip that model apart, then rebuild it in many parts?, or just forget to rebuild it?.

And just a point to demonstrate this, the Escort model in Hysterix. Has a seperate full car texture, to colour the small outward curve, below the window. About 1/4 of an inch, in real life. Probably, just a few pixels in the texture.

I quite like the Historx mod, but it's essentially GTL ported over to rFactor with some re-jigged graphics, sound and physics. But i do think it would be quite interesting to do the whole 'driver-swapping enduro' thing with historic cars (the whole strategy of saving fuel, tyres, engine etc would be different) but then 'hot-swapping' has its own pitfalls and might be like opening a whole other can of worms.
I've yet to try the Bathurst Legends mod, always wanted to but never got round to it, looks promising though.

Here's the basic gist of it:
GTL: The original.
Historic GT & TC: As above, but ported to rFactor with some minor tweaks.
P&G: GTL cars, but with physics that mimic the original tyres the cars ran on (GTL simulates the modern FIA Historic Series, which to my knowledge uses grippier tyres than what the cars ran on in their heyday).

So that I may make some sort of contribution to this thread :)tongue:), the thought has run through my mind of running morning events GMT time. I love racing historic cars in rFactor, but currently the only way for me to is to get up at an hour that is very unhealthy. I am not expecting events like this to be run per se, I'm just thinking out loud here.

Right I feel I need to post this now.

I do not like all this nogrip links almost all the things for Historic is from there. I have said many times I cant use it (And yes I know its not your fault)

But I am not racing at nogrip I want to race here. I know that a lot of the mods they have there say you cant host on other sites so I RD would get it big time if they did. But you can put the files on many hosting sites you could even put them on my server and post the links to them. That way RD is in the clear. Many other events here at RD do so why cant we do it in this club?

I really wont to race in the club but I cant as I cant get the mods or tracks. It is the job of the staff to get us the mods so please read this.

Do not take this as me having ago at staff as I am not I am just putting my point in there

Thanks Wayne

I'm sure anyone would upload the required files somewhere else for you. I have done it a few times now. Just ask?

That is true Ryan. But if you ask them and tell them what it is for and say you will take it down after so many days they most of the time don't mind and are happy to help. I had to do that in 1 of my GTR2 events many moons ago :)

LOL, so it's not even a technical thing, you got banned? I don't see why the staff should be responsible then. They have provided download links that everyone else can use.
I'd say it's up to you to fix the situation you're in, i.e. ask if someone could upload it temporarily to another location. Since the authors don't want mirroring, a regular user would be a safer choice than staff members.

It had nothing to do with me getting banned not alot you can do when you get hacked as 600 other members. It is up to staff to put links for all to use not just some. I should not have to ask other members to upload it to a hosing site to get it. Carloz did so I don't really see what the big deal is I really don't

I have not made my post for others to start telling me what they think it was aimed at staff. But it looks like stu had said some thing the he delete it by what it says i did not get to see what he put. Hoping he will post at some point so I can see what and if he is going to do.

As I have said in my first post I am not having ago at any one I think stu does and awesome job and I have all ways said that. But some times you have to speak up

OK - here is my take on this such as it is seeing as how this is "aimed at staff" and that non-staff members don't seem to be allowed to present their opinions.

Staff's role on RD is to test for, setup and run Club events and Leagues, mod the forums (fora?) that correspond to the section of the gaming that they are responsible for.

I provide links to the items that we need for those events, and the nature of the beast is that a lot of them are hosted at no-grip. I always look around for alternative locations (altbierbude / gtl4u etc.) but a lot of the files are no-grip only.

You say "it's the staffs responsibility to get us the mods". The links ARE the mods, so I've done my part, and for the vast majority of users. If the link were some super obscure site that only I could access, and then I refused to provide alternative links, you'd maybe have a point, but that's not the case.

You can't use no-grip, I'm still not sure of the reason why, but I won't dwell on that and just take it as the status.

The part I take exception to is the bit where, when it was suggested to you that if you asked someone would help out with an upload, you say you shouldn't need to ask, and that Staff should do all this extra up and downloading onto other sites as a matter of course.

To me, it looks like you are demanding that staff hugely increase their workload (request permission for temp hosting, downloading and then re-uploading potentially Gigs worth of data, and then link to new re-upload - as opposed to the current just posting a link) to help you and you alone, and yet you won't even raise a finger to even ask if anyone can help out - which I'm sure (in fact know seeing as Senad mentions it) they would.

Doesn't that strike you in any way as slightly unreasonable, and a highly self-centred view on things?

It's not meeting us halfway, in fact you aren't even leaving the house.

We take the time to post literally months in advance what new mods we will be using for the following quarter, and lots of us have dropbox accounts where we would gladly share things, but your seeming refusal to want to do anything towards the process means these steps are being taken out of the equation.
