F1 | Zandvoort Banking Now Complete

I think that the race is going to be abysmal for overtaking, if only because the F1 cars are too wide for actually a lot of the circuits on the calendar. I am excited to see other series racing on this, GT3, F2, etc., but I'm not excited for the D1 Dutch GP.

The best zanvoort is the Gpl version. The old long layout... bloody fast sweeping corners. Today (early in the 80,s) it was killed politics..... like Austria and a lot of tracks more.
But it is nice to watch again F1 there, Holland is a racing minded land. And we need that in F1 and everybody loves Max

The T1 runoff area has been rebuilt with an interesting new hyrbrid paved/gravel idea, that I believe came from Alexander Wurz. They added a paved section of runoff, but only in the area directly in line with the main staight. The rest of the turn has gravel to the edge of the circuit.

This seems to me like a good compromise between what the FIA wants for safety, and what many others want for natural track limits that have consequences for drivers going wide. I hope they apply this to other tracks like the Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring that often have crowds of drivers going through the runoff on turn 1/lap 1
To help us visual people, I found a photo of the T1 runoff from the final construction phase

It's nice to have a new F1 track that was not designed by Tilke. And the banking is a great idea, I wonder what is the degree of inclination?

As long as the tires can handle the banking, it will be fun. We don't want another Indianapolis 2005 GP...

Most of the time track best version is it's GPL version. :)
Cement barrier. Bold choice.
Guess they had to make sure people are protected from cars flying all over west coast of Holland.
Imagine Kimi as another Flying Finn.

I like Zand layout I really do buy boy... this track have some of the dullest surroundings in F1. And more.

I smell the cold, dead hand of Hermann Tilke. Too bad they didn't simply restore it to the original Hugenholtz layout. I'm not a fan of 320-deg. switchbacks, one after the other after the other. If the FIA is so fond of 1st-gear corners, why don't they just put the Transfăgărășan hillclimb on the F1 calendar?
They could not do so because Zandvoort is located in the middle of dunes, directly by the sea. I don't know of any other race track that is so restricted because of environmental and residents' protection.

dullest? It's on the sand dunes in the shoreline of North Sea! Surrounded by radar towers and lighthouses.

I think the F1 qualifying sessions will be epic on this ‘upgraded’ layout. From the youtube onboards I have seen until now the circuit also looks much wider than what it looks like in current racing simulations. So maybe there will be enough room for these current big F1 cars. For the lower racing classes, I have to agree with some of the comments... the Luyendijkbocht will not be the same challenge anymore and probably just easy flatout. But... Scheivlak will remain challenging.:)

I didn't see any chicanes or tight hairpins, after all this doesn't fit the modern formula one. I'm very disappointed, there are no passing points on the track…full throttle around the track

Very nice track for old Ford Escort 1.1

Just kidding, can't wait to see a little bit different modern F1 race on this track
