Yes, sim racers who want to see if they can re-enact the championship winning exploits of Mick Schumacher now have the opportunity in F1 2020, as a new update for the racing title recently deployed to Steam that brings the 2020 F2 cars, teams, drivers and liveries to the game for the very first time.

Anyone familiar with F1 2020 will be aware that the Formula One supporting series was already present within the game from launch, in 2019 form, with Codemasters promising a 2020 update would be forthcoming at some point later in the year. Well, that time is now, and new content is here to play!

So, what is different other than drivers and liveries? Well of course the 2020 cars feature the larger wheels that will be coming to the main series in future years, which should have an impact on handling characteristics over and above how the current model feels, providing an interesting challenge to freshen up the playing experience for gamers.

As part of the free F2 update, Codemasters have also deployed a small new update, details of which you can find below;
  • Added the F2™ 2020 Season Vehicles - you can find out more about the F2™ cars here
  • Addressed an issue where French and Spanish audio would not be available for specific regions
  • Addressed an issue for Xbox One X users where audio could cut out when near other cars
  • Tyre wear will now correctly be tracked when leaving/joining a session
  • Weather forecast is now correct in full qualifying
  • Tyre icons are now aligned on the spectator HUD regardless of the number of laps completed

2020 cars and we are almost in 2021...

Considering GTR2 was released in 2006 and it features the FIA GT Championship 2003 and 2004 seasons, I'd say it's not bad at all.

Great game, I wish the handling was a bit more on the simulation side (it feels a bit dumb especially at low speeds) but it provides great fun and awesome racing as is. Quite frankly, when it comes to actually simulate a real world series with all the specific rules, nothing comes close to the F1 games.

F2 cars drive very well, I think I also prefer them over the big boys.
