Codemasters have revealed a new features trailer for F1 2020, showing off some of the new things you can expect to find within the latest Formula One official racing title.
  • Create your own team
  • Split screen racing
  • 10 year career mode
One of the key components of F1 2020 is the ability for players to become the 11th team in the 2020 Formula One World Championship. From having the ability to create your own car and livery and overalls designs, to being able to influence performance and other development type aspects while managing your facilities and resources back at the team HQ.

“In a little less than a week, our players will finally be able to experience all the innovations in F1® 2020. This year, we have created new features which cater to every type of race fan,” said Lee Mather, F1® Franchise Game Director at Codemasters. “From My Team, which gives players a real insight into the world of Formula 1®, to the more casual split-screen, F1® 2020 is the ultimate virtual racing experience to accompany the revised 2020 F1® season.”
As with previous games within the franchise, Codemasters are keen to further expand the career mode within F1 2020, and as such the new title comes with a 10 year career mode, where you can either pilot your own team, or work your way through the existing grid while other drivers around you swap teams, retire or step up from the supporting Formula 2 series.

  • Customisation of the F2 integration
  • Adjustable season lengths
  • New circuits
Also fresh for Formula One 2020 is the first new circuit introductions into the franchise for quite a while, with the inclusion of both the Vietnamese Grand Prix in Hanoi, and the returning and re-profiled Zandvoort Grand Prix Circuit - ironically two of the venues dropped from Formula One racing this season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Formula 2 also returns to the franchise for a second year in a row, with the 2019 season forming part of the base offering at launch, with the 2020 variant set to be included as a free additional DLC at some point later in the year.

Season lengths are also adjustable as part of the new game, again with a focus on customisation, so players have the option to choose between full season racing of 22 events, a 16 race calendar or a 10 race affair.

  • New contract system
  • ERS Overtaken button
  • Virtual real mirror
As the career and management gameplay features expand, so too has the level of detail applied to the contract management system within F1 2020. From signing contracts as the driver to race for a team, to hiring and firing of staff and sponsors, the control of the off track aspect of running a Formula One team has been put much more firmly in the hands of the player, adding considerable additional playability to the game outside of simply driving a race weekend.

Another welcome introduction into the latest F1 title is the inclusion of a virtual mirror for better visibility when racing, and the introduction of the ERS 'overtake' button, that gives players the ability to call on additional power from their V6 hybrid engine when looking to perform a pass on the cars ahead - as per the real world Formula One regulations.

  • New assists for casual racers
  • Classic F1 cars
  • New podium celebrations - F1 Podium Pass
  • Game review and live stream Monday 6th July on RD YouTube channel
Casual racers and those with less experience of the Formula One franchise has also been considered with this latest game, as Codemasters have developed a suit of new assists and features that can be applied within the game options. From new steering assists to less punishing off track incidents, the intention is to make the title more accessible to a wider gaming audience, without forcing the assists on more experienced players.

Classic cars also return in F1 2020, with the Michael Schumacher deluxe edition featuring a number of cars used by the 7-time World Champion during his career in the sport, alongside various historic Grand Prix machines from the last couple of decades of Formula One racing.

In something of a Fornite esque move, Codemasters have also created the questionable 'Podium Pass' feature, where those with an interest in having special celebrations one the race podium can update their driver avatar with special moves... which I'm likely to never look at, consider or care about during my time with the game.

So folks, all in all a pretty packed list of new and exciting features for the title. Check out the RaceDepartment F1 2020 review due to launch on our YouTube channel at 9am BST on Monday 6th July, followed by a few hours of live streaming from the game beginning at 9.30 BST - more details to follow nearer the time.

F1 2020 is set to release on July 7th for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.

To be clear, I'm not bagging the game , just making a suggestion.Hope we can sync the career mode from 2020 game to 2021-22-23-24-etc. It takes me a year to complete 1 season let alone 10. with the other sims to tinker with ACC , AM2 etc, Time is hard to come by. Or just release 1 game every 10 years and have updates and DLC in-between , that way they could focus on quality and improvements, still make money and eventually get it to simulation status with VR. ?

I mean, you could just not buy it every year since people act like it's only a patch instead of a new game anyway, it's F1 after all there's only so much you can do so F12021 will be almost identical to this one.

How will this or any F1 sim mod replicate "steering wheel mode" :coffee: it will need to be canned arcade
because you can't change camber real-time in any sim I know

Wonder if opposite would work so during a extended safety car period use negative camber to save rubber / contact patch :sneaky:
