Additional recommendations

  • Disable the Steam Cloud for this game. In general it has caused more problems than it's worth throughout this game series. It is only useful if playing away from home on a different PC or Laptop
  • If you keep backups of your actual game profile folder, then re-instate that backup back into Steam at some time, you could potentially have a file clash with the cloud files. If your game save profile has become corrupted, the Steam Cloud is likely to put the corrupted files back into the game, because it syncs with cloud when you close the game.
  • In Steam > Right Click on F1 2016 and select 'Properties' > Updates Tab > Deselect 'Enable Steam Cloud Synchronisation for F1 2016'
steam_cloud.jpg

  • If you want to back up your game profile manually. Then you need to make a backup copy of your profile folder :-
  • YourSteamInstallDrive\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxx\391040
  • xxxxxxx = Your Steam ID number
  • 391040 = The F1 2016 profile folder.
  • Alternatively, use GameSave Manager 3 manually, or use it's scheduling feature to back up the F1 2016 data (and many other games, if you wish), at regular intervals.
  • The latest database does support F1 2016
  • How to use GameSave Manager - Tutorial Here
  • How to create a custom backup when a game isn't in the database - Tutorial Here
Backups, how do you recover your backup profile when needed?
  • Choose your last known good backup (hopefully you have multiple backups)
  • Close the game (if running)
  • Delete or move the existing broken profile from the Steam folder mentioned below
  • Copy your backup profile back into that Steam folder
  • YourSteamInstallDrive\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxx\391040
  • Start the game ....... and pray that it works :)
  • Naturally the amount of data you lose, depends on how often you make backups.
How to repair or check your game files if you have problems (PC)

Verify your game files (cache) on Steam.

Right click F1 2016 in Steam > Properties > Local Files tab > Verify Integrity of Game Cache

This will remove any mods, and automatically download and repair any missing, or broken files. It will ensure that you have a standard, fully patched game

steam-verify.jpg

How to check if your game is up to date

Boot the game, and on the splash screen where 7 drivers are displayed, the game version number is in the lower left of the screen

Current Version 1.8.0
