At the moment Leon, I'm just trying to judge the lay of the land for now, and trying to get courses that i think would produce some really close racing.

In a few weeks, once Ive got my footing, ill be starting on challenging tracks, (I'd love to find a legal version of Bathurst), but i've got a few hurdles to get over yet.

I understand your concerns though, but dont worry, i wont let the good folk of the Race 07 Club down!

It's honestly hard to say. On paper the CSL wipes the floor with everything else. It's the only one of the four cars that generates downforce, and it's got the best power to weight ratio. But I never see them fall far behind.

However the CSL does drink like a fish compared to the Corvette. Needs about 30-40% more fuel for the same distance! :p

My 2 cents on car set-ups: I agree with Marcus mostly but there are couple of easy things worth looking at to suit your driving style:

1. Steering Lock - by default usually set to 14 degrees I think. This allows or fine precision movements but does increase the amount of steering input you have to do. I much prefer driving with it set closer to 20.

2. Brake Balance - I usually have this controlled from buttons on my wheel so i can change it while driving. In some cars the default setting has the front wheels looking up way before the back ones, my ideal setting is to have them lock just before the backs. This can be checked by watching video replays of yourself slamming the brakes on

3. gears - in some races you can change these. If you find that there is a long straight section on the track and you car red-lines all the way along it you may want to experiment with raising your gearing a little bit. Too high and the engine won't reach it's red line. Let the speedometer be your guide.

4. There is other things to do just during qualifying: close the brake and engine ducts right up (smallest numbers) - this causes the car to be more aerodynamic but can cause overheating in a full race. Run with minimum fuel for a weight saving.

Having said all of this, I have never won a race, so what do I know? !

There are some very good articles on here about how to set your car up, written by folks who know much more than me. I find it one of the most interesting aspects of doing this. However a well set up car in the hands of someone who isn't a great driver is never going to beat the great driver, I know this from experience. Also, being fast in practice mode doesn't always convert to good positions in a race, race-craft counts for a lot - I know this because mine is poor. Still I just love all of this and hope everyone else does too.

cheers
