Drive Through Penalties

There maybe a simple solution to this but I can seem to find it.

How on earth do you drive through penalties without your car going in to your pit box?

Had a drive through yesterday for speeding in the pits, so I thought I would just do it straight away.

As I had already done my mandatory pit I thought I would drive straight past my pit box but I didn't.

Any help would be great, thank you.

Turn off AI control in the pits. Then you can just drive through the pits without touching any buttons and the penalty will be served. If you want to leave it enabled then you'll have to request a stop, disable any fuel and tyre changes, and then select the option to serve the penalty... all while driving at high speed in a race.
