Double Trouble Sprint Race @ Mallory Park - Sunday 13th July 2008

Ok here is something different for our weekly GTL event.
Building on the sprint race idea that has been thrown around recently, Sundays GTL event is a double whammy of sprint races around Mallory Park, UK. Race 1 features two popular cars from the TC-65 class – the Alfa GTA and the Lotus Cortina. Race 2 brings back the Cadwell Park rivalries – the Ford Escort and the Ford Capri.
Both races are a short 12 laps and with the average lap time of Mallory within a minute they look set to provide a mad dash to see who can claim the victory!
NOTE: If everyone signing up could please state which car they are using for each race that would be great! :thumb:

leeroy you could of waited for me after that tap, But you were quicker than me anyway so it dont matter to much

race1 with the Tina
qualified 2nd behind leeroy's Alfa. I had a great start and took the lead in the first corner. I managed to keep leeroy for 2 laps then he passed me and i was unable to keep the pace with the Alfa however i made a PB in race finished 2nd
race 2 with the Brownie
well...li'l capris prooved to be way weaker than the Escorts, i qulified for 4th or 3rd, dunno really, but i still have trouble with braking before hairpin (cant fiind the setup), so i didnt think i can run a clear race. I was right, made braking mistake twice before hairpin, and felt back. luckily can crawl up until 3rd and finished on the podium. Had great fight with Andy in the other Brownie
All in all, hard to find cars in pair, and it depends on the track too, the concept of this type of races is not bad, but need longer tracks and longer races, 30 mins at least.

That was a very enjoyable evening

RACE 1 - QUALIFY
Couldnt quite find a decent flow and ended up at the back of the grid, shame as i'm usual better with the Alfa

RACE 1
Not a bad start, kept up with the pack until Jerome and Stephane had a coming together at the hairpin and I got up to 3rd. Stayed there until the flag for my first online podium and a GTL online PB!

RACE 2 - QUALIFY
A lot better session this time, managed to get the hang of the Capri and ended up 5th.

RACE 2
Got a decent start and moved up into 4th by the first corner. Kept my cool and was up to 2nd a few laps later. Dropped back to 3rd after Ben passed me cleanly and stayed there until lap 10 when I lost the position to Szilard as my tyres were pretty much in pieces by this stage. Stayed in 4th until the finsih. Had some good battles with Jerome and Szilard too

OVERALL
A very enjoyable event with some very clean racing which is always nice to see
Hats off to Ben for 2nd in race 2 as he was struggling with the Escorts poor brakes. All in all a great couple of races and we will be having another sprint event shortly

Good point but the idea behind the sprints is that we have two short races that last for the length of one standard race.
I'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future though mate, i'm sure we can come up with something :thumb:

Just in time for the second race,pract. and qual. go bad ,good not hold the car on track, made chance's in the setup so the last lap in Qual. went better.
Start 11 place get a way on 10 place but made a few mistakes in the chicane,
passed a few guys that driving into the grass and ended in 5 place, not bad.

Short but nice race
