You can also set "Track" to Green (95%) ; Old (89%) ; Dusty (86%) in Drive tab of CM if you have it. :thumbsup:
But with RainFX, it is better to set it on Auto (Set by weather) if you are using a "weather plan.lua" with variation.
I just drove 2 laps with a weather plan of mine, The IA (strength : 95% + or - 5% ; aggression : 90% + or- 5%) is fast on dry and drive on grass most of the time, when the track is wet or soaking, when they are not crashing into each other. No vision, no brakes, IA crashed on the track !!!! What else ? :):thumbsup:

@pepperoni ac24 , No rainy pics today, my pc crash at the end of the second lap... Replay not saved. I try tomorrow, I am busy now. But as I said yesterday, Dust + Rain is too difficult and not so realistic. :cry:

Drive safe.

Finaly I have some pics with RainFX. Your skin work rather well with rain. As I thought, dust and rain, it does too much. the visibility becomes too bad. It’s a pity, the sum of the two gives a rather convincing effect, but too dense. A kind of yellowish fog, a little muddy but too tricky to drive and stay on track.

Apologies for the noob question but does this replace Fonteny with the dirt version or add a dirt "layout" to the Fonteny track?
It just add a dirt layaout. It's just a skin you choose when you launch the track.

You can add some modification as GPLaps show us in this video :

Fonteny Track:

"Dirty Old Town" track skin:

Surface setting adjustment for "dirt" physics:
Update the "surfaces.ini" in the track directory for the layout you want to use. Below are my settings for the asphalt:

[SURFACE_0]
KEY=ROAD
FRICTION=0.96
DAMPING=0
WAV=sand.wav
WAV_PITCH=0
FF_EFFECT=NULL
DIRT_ADDITIVE=1
IS_VALID_TRACK=1
BLACK_FLAG_TIME=0
SIN_HEIGHT=0.01
SIN_LENGTH=0.5
IS_PITLANE=0
VIBRATION_GAIN=0.1
VIBRATION_LENGTH=0.1

Or if you prefer gravel + sand sound.

[SURFACE_0]
KEY=ROAD
FRICTION=0.96
DAMPING=0
WAV=sand.wav ;Ajout son sable pour "Dirty Old Track"
WAV=gravel.wav ;Ajout son graviers pour "Dirty Old Track"
WAV_PITCH=0
FF_EFFECT=NULL
DIRT_ADDITIVE=1 ;Ajout de poussiere pour "Dirty Old Track"
IS_VALID_TRACK=1
BLACK_FLAG_TIME=0
SIN_HEIGHT=0.01
SIN_LENGTH=0.5
IS_PITLANE=0
VIBRATION_GAIN=0.1
VIBRATION_LENGTH=0.1

You can also disable a sound by a (semicolon on the start of the line
exemple :
;WAV=sand.wav ;Ajout son sable pour "Dirty Old Track"

Hello, first you need the original track "Fonteny" then you must copy/paste my file in your assetto corsa folder and enable it in Content Manager that's it, hope it will help you if you do not use CM (content manager), just tell, i will give you another way to use the mod without CM, have fun
Hello. Please provide installation instructions without CM. It would be really helpful if you could specify which actual folder the mod should be installed to. Also how do you enable it in CM? (do you need the full version of CM for this?) Many thanks. I saw GP Laps recent video & it looked awsome.

Get the track put it in the tracks folder, now download the skin and find your root assetto corsa file, now put the content folder or go to the track and drop the skins file in there. And you got your track boom!

Thats very helpful. Thank you so much. I'm up & running (once I remembered to enable the mod in CM! Awesome mod & great community support - who could wish for more!!

Sorry if this is almost 5 (or 6?) months later but i was having the same problem but can't seem to find anywhere to enable it in CM
Edit: managed to get it working, excellent skin and incredibly fun with the 1920s cars and the surface differences

I have copied files over as instructed and whether enable or disable in CM I do not see any dirt or dusty roads only normal old tarmac.

Please someone provide a step by step guide for this old foggy brain !

Also how do you get the rain and wet roads ? I have the CSP mod purchased together with CM but I have never seen rain in AC not even with the SOL mod when I selected rain ... it is always dry. I do struggle to understand some of how all this works though so it must be a setting somewhere ? But there is so many Tabs and options I just left it all as is in fear of breaking something because when I first used over a year ago everything was black when in game.

Hope someone has the patience to help me out thanks.

Hi, I'm no expert but assuming your install was ok, try this if you haven't done so already:
1. In content manager open the drive menu & select Fonteny.
2. Immediately under the picture of the track there is a dialogue box which I'm guessing will say 'No active skins'.
3. If you click on the 'carrot' to the right of those words a red dialogue box will drop down which says 'Dirty Old Town'
4. To the left of those words should be a check box.
5. Click on this and the main dialogue box should now read 'Dirty Old Town'.
6. Off you go - and drive carefully!
I'm afraid I don't use the rain & wet road function but I'm sure someone else will be able to help you on that.
I hope that you will at least now be able to access Dirty Old Town.

Thanks @Fing There it is very kind of you to respond to my cry for help.;)

I did manage to get DIrty Old Town working. In those settings it did already say Enabled but in game was not visible. I had to set it to Disabled, drive again, exit and then set Enabled. Only then it would work.

I have spent days following guides on getting the Wet roads and Rain to actually work, but still it does not ! I have downloaded all necessary files and turned on everything that says should be enabled yet still I go to race and have never seen a single drop of rain.

I even resigned up to ilja Jusupov aka x4fab Patreon and downloaded again his latest June 2022 update but that has changed nothing. For now the prospect of Rain or wet roads in AC is a myth or legend that I have no idea how to access. Surely it cannot be such a mystery to find the correct ingredients to make this work ?

I know I am very old and somewhat dim but I am not totally brain dead just yet !!! ......

..... Or maybe I am and would I know !!!???? :confused:
