Codemasters Steam Early Access favourite DiRT Rally has hit version 0.9 with the latest released update for the off road sim, Modern Masters.

Although only a relatively minor update, modern masters brings 4 new vehicles, several fixes and improvements with the Group B 4WD and Group A class receiving the version 2 handling model treatment.

New cars introduced with this latest update include the 2007 Ford Focus RS Rally & 2010 Citroën C4 Rally added into the 2000s class with the Subaru Impreza WRX STI (the ugly one) and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X added to the newly created R4 class.

Other improvements and fixes of note that will hopefully resolve an issue effecting many in the community is the "Fixed the CPU detection so the correct thread strategy is chosen for your PC". Codemasters promise that this should be a fix to the sometimes game breaking stutters many have experienced since previous patch.

With DiRT edging ever closer to a full V1.0 release this is another little step in the right direction for arguably the surprise of 2015.

Changelog:
  • New R4 class with 2 cars (Subaru Impreza WRX STI & Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X)
  • 2 new cars added to 2000s class (Ford Focus RS Rally & Citroën C4 Rally)
  • v.2 Car Handling on R4, Group B 4WD and Group A
Additions and Community Requests:
  • Stage distance and elevation is now shown in stage information screen
  • Steering rotation in cockpit now matches actions of player when the driver arms are not shown.
  • Manual control for headlights and wipers
  • New liveries featured on some cars including the Repsol livery on the Lancia Delta
  • Countdown timer added for the last 60 seconds of a Rallycross race
  • Grid Order and Assists added to session options in PVP
  • Player preferences is now available in the Lobby and Online Service Area
Fixes:
  • Fixed the CPU detection so the correct thread strategy is chosen for your PC. This fixes the stuttering issues that we may have introduced in v0.8, sorry about that!
  • The achievement “Visceral… but in the correct meaning of the word” is now only unlockable when meeting the required criteria. This should mean it is a proper challenge to unlock again.
  • The timing of some co-driver calls for Finland have been adjusted, they won’t be as early in some places. Also, they’ve got a bit braver so they’ve raised their volume a bit too.
  • Advanced Custom Wheel configurations are now saving correctly, Clutch deadzone and saturation settings will now be saved with wheel settings too. Yay!.
  • Animal protection services have been on the phone so we’ve had to move the wildlife on some stages to safety.
  • Issues with systems crashing at the start of a stage when using AMD Crossfire are now resolved.
  • The game will save after you receive your rewards from online events – yeah, they didn’t do that before.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur if you exited to the menus in a Rallycross event at the semi-finals .
  • Fixed the Logitech G29 actionmap so you can navigate the menus correctly – we finally got hold of one to test it out.
  • Fixed repair puncture OSD text remaining on screen after the player retires.
  • Fixed the wrong points being displayed for entrants when any of the reverse grid options were enabled in PvP.
  • “Gotta Get Me One of These” and “Any Given Sunday” achievements both now unlock when completed in any relevant online event.
  • Spectating another player crash at high speed in PVP will no longer break the camera changing system.
  • The mouse cursor will now hide when the mouse is not moved for a short period of time, solving the issue where the mouse cursor would remain on screen when played in windowed mode.
  • AI difficulty levels should now be working within league play.

Have you tried DiRT Rally yet, if so what do you think of the latest update? Let us know in the comments below!

This Rallye sim is getting superb. The FFB for me and my T500 is outstanding. Really really good.
Tried the R4 Mitsubishi and had a great time. The handling in the Greek stages is truly fantastic.

Now all it needs is proper external trackside replays* and it will be perfect for me. ;)

Greek rally special stages , are really close to real life , I know that because I have done the Special stage 1 on Kineta for my self like an amateur driver. And its a spot on , all the textures all the bumps the trees everything is correct , only the route its not spot on , I understand that , its half an hour special stage after all.

I eagerly jumped into my GrpA Lancia to try the v2 physics and found the braking power gone! I did two stages before noticing the brake power option in the advanced setup menu. I notched it up but have not gotten a chance to try it.

Has braking power been reduced intentionally? I remember some people complaining about the high braking power of some cars. I couldn't even lock up the brakes on the Lancia on gravel!

The F2 Kit Cars/Group B RWD still need V2 physics implemented, that's why they feel different.
Oh my... thank you very much for your Reply this was making me so mad all these days I was testing FFB effects and they always feel diferent on kit cars and modern wrc cars. Now I know why ... because of you.
So I will fix my settings using WRC modern cars that they already use v2 physics and after that I will just wait for Group B and Kit cars to get updated .
Thanks Thanks Thanks

Too bad these 4 new car sounds are horrible......Not a realistic sounds for those cars indeed.
Focus WRC'07 and C4 WRC are pretty bad. Those are my favourite wrc cars ever, I don't feel like I'm driving them, just visual feeling.

Evo X sounds like a Saxo GrN LOL and Impreza STI is crap. Where are the anti-lag system and transmision sounds??? WTF is this?

:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Nothing like Subaru GrA or Metro GrB :(

The Focus is actually a real audio recording, and so is the Subaru. Penty of Anti Lag sounds on the Evo and the R4 Subaru doesn't really pop and bang like an Evo does.

I don't know what kind of Subaru and Focus did u heard before but I've been watching them live on the stages many times and the game does not recreate them as on real life. Subaru STI R4 has a huge anti-lag bang sounds (obviously different than Evos) and both focus and subaru are wrong, real recording doesn't mean it sounds realistic on the game. Actually transmision sounds are empty and simple from my point of view. Need to be improved many cars indeed.
