Codemasters have confirmed the full list of supported peripherals for the upcoming DiRT Rally 2.0.

The good news for gamers is many of the most common brands look set to be supported from the off, including much of the Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster wheel range - however it is also nice to see direct drive wheel support in the form of the SimSteering and Accuforce wheels - an increasing trend in sim racing as the popularity of direct drive wheels continues to increase amongst the sim racing player base.

No OSW and no HE's pedal ? wtf?? i will not be able to play the game or they will work but not listed as official?
The latter :)
In dirt rally you'll see them as "generic steering wheel" or something similar. But you won't have a preset for them like for these supported once where you basically just load up the game and the joysticks, shifter etc will work. You'll have to bind each function manually but in sure they will work just fine :)

I just want to say that I have a T300 with the F1 wheel in advanced mode...
-> in Dirt Rally works without any problems
-> in Dirt 4 I had to edit some files with device IDs because the game never saved the configuration and I had to redo it on every startup

In neither game does the in-game wheel reflect the movement of the real wheel (like in every sim incl. F1 2018 from Codemasters), although 900 degree animation was a selling point of Dirt 4 (I have hands disabled and soft lock turned off...) The in-game wheel has more inertia, on sudden movements it overshoots than returns back to the position I have my real wheel in. It's incredibly frustrating for me as I would like to have the same "view" in every sim -> cockpit with wheel with 1:1 animations (and preferably no hands), so dash cam is not a perfect solution.

This "problem" made me enjoy the previous Dirt games much less as I would like. Hopefully 2.0 has proper animations this time. I am not sure if I will buy it, I bought 4 because people said it has those proper 1:1 animations I would like to have - but it does not, or I am too stupid to set it up.

Good lord, even a peripherals list gets you people riled up? Relax people, multiple USB devices have worked just fine since the original Dirt Rally...They're just listing what devices will have factory presets. Also, I'm assuming AO stands for Add-On, as in accessories other than the wheel base or pedals.

No VR no BUY

No BUY = Nobody CARES? :D

Seriously, if the VR market is as big as we believe it is, vote with your wallet. If all VR diehards refuse to buy it, see if that gets their attention.

The most played sims on steam have VR support the forgotten ones don't. Imo 3d beats 2d into submission i get the resolution argument but lets look at it like this.

2d = watching a high res porno
3d = bedding an absolute beauty without your reading glasses.

Do the maff

You never know with Codemasters. F1 2015 is a perfect example of how bad they are sometimes : good luck if you don't have a preset wheel and pedals set. Although the previous F1 games did not have any problem to work with many non preset wheels, F1 2015 is just broken (as dirt showdown is). And instead of receiving a fix, which should be easy as it has been the same engine for years, F1 2015 is just given away from time to time...

I would never trust codemasters about their non preset wheel implementation before reading the first feedbacks...

You forgot the part where both your 2D and 3D analogies can leave some people happy and some people wanting. Maff was never my strong suit...I was really good at Math, though. Here's the counter to your argument:

2D Positives compared to VR:
  • I can see my wheel, shifter, handbrake, keyboard and additional data screens and not rely on guessing and muscle memory to hit that button you rarely use to adjust something during an intense race.
  • If the house is burning down, my family is being attacked, etc...I'll likely be a little more aware than a VR user with headphones on (I use speakers).
  • With Triple Monitors setup, I have the same useful situational awareness as a VR user (i.e. yea you can look at the sky and behind the seat to your heart's content, but in a race is that really useful?)
  • No issue with vision getting fogged up over long races.
  • Much lower chance of getting nausea.
  • Slightly lower impact on PC performance.

TL: DR? Live and let live; Do what makes you happy. :)

FYI you don't have to use headphones with VR. I prefer to use my speakers too, to be aware of my surroundings and to avoid damaging my ears using headphones for hours. The rest of your arguments is true, although I can sacrifice these aspects to be immerse in a 3d world ; my driving immediatly becomes more natural and efficient (for others it may not make any difference). As you said, it's a personal preference.

Have they though. I can’t even count the hours I’ve spent trying to get Usb evices working properly on codemasters games.

I'm very sorry but there are absolutely zero sexual connotations in your argumet.

I can't do your maff.

Congratulations on being great at sums.
