DiRT Rally 2.0 DiRT Rally 2.0 encourages UK gamers to STAY HOME SAVE LIVES

The UK Government's Department for Culture, Media, and Sport has partnered with major UK-based game companies to spread a message aimed at aiding people through the current coronavirus crisis. The DCMS reveals these messages are already present in Candy Crush Saga, Sniper Elite 4, Farm Heroes, and DiRT Rally 2.0.

Toby Evan-Jones, VP Business Development at Codemasters, says

"At Codemasters we came to realise that technology within our games, which enables the remote updating of banners within the virtual environment, could be repurposed to assist with the Coronavirus communication effort. This week, through collaboration with Bidstack Group PLC (providers of the ad-replacement infrastructure), we began delivering a version of Public Health England’s ‘Stay Home Save Lives’ message into DiRT Rally 2.0. It’s fantastic to see conversations already being sparked amongst our community."

If you live in the UK and play DiRT Rally 2.0, you've probably already noticed the in-game banners echoing the government line "STAY HOME SAVE LIVES".

As revealed in a statement to the BBC, Codemasters hope to extend this initiative to display information from local public safety messages geo-targeted to European and American players.

Shame Codemasters servers have been a total joke for the past few days. As the game is an online at all times game, a lot of the racing wouldn't connect. You could run Time Trials but then time wouldn't save to server because it couldn't connect.

Folks posting on Twitter that their career saves had been deleted due to the server issues. All this actually started prior tot the game dropping on PS+ as one of the freebie games this month.

Even tonight the servers have been very hit and miss.

Great idea thanks, however surely it would be more beneficial to get the servers sorted so people can actually play the game, and that's across the board of all Dirt titles. Dirt 4 usually loads then you get kicked after one stage as the servers have gone down. Dirt Rally has been unobtainium since the crisis began and Dirt Rally 2 is constantly crashing when servers go down, that's if you're lucky enough to get in in the first place. Like I said, great idea but for Gods sake sort your damned servers out. You've made a lot of money out of us surely it's not too much to ask

I've installed Rally on the PS4 but haven't booted it yet, so can't say I have experience with the current server status.

Definitely 200% done with every game demanding to be online for single player progress in any genre >:[

I agree, it has some difficulties to connect these days...
