I was just thinking I should try to add more national colours, the Delage is a bit awkward with numbers because their position on the UV Map is a bit tricky but I'll try to add more colours at least.

Have a go with THL's Rennbahn 1928, it's great fun. GPLaps on YouTube made a AI race video with the Tours cars and his own AI line on THL's track and it really felt like watching the old oval races from the 20s and 30s. Fat Alfie's tracks always fit well with these cars too.
that track is so good i would love to see a vintage opal to drive around there

Just a note that I added in the code for the upcoming rain effects in Shader Patch and I vaguely remember reading somewhere that that can cause a crash if you don't have it installed. If you're able to unpack the data then changing the start of car.ini from

[HEADER]
VERSION=extended-2 ; version number

[_EXTENSION] RAIN_DEV=1

to just:

[HEADER]
VERSION=2 ; version number

should remove that problem.
This solved the crash issue for me! Now I can enjoy this new 1923' baby on the tracks! Thank you for your help! :thumbsup:

I am trying to go through the process of troubleshooting because my game also crashes when I start,

The option to unpack isnt there for me, I have "pack data" but even that is grayed out

You need to donate for the full version of CM to use 'Unpack'. I think Ilja still accepts any donation big or small so it's not too bad if money is tight and he thoroughly deserves some reward for all his hard work. Remember to delete the data.acd file after you've unpacked it to the data folder.

EDIT: I should add that just using the free version of Content Manager with Shader Patch will work too.

Spent so long working on 2 seater cars when I saw this one I was a bit confused as to why the riding mechanic would have a pedal on his side :confused::laugh: - that gear(?) lever looks uncomfortably placed as well :unsure::

Ah ok, I went with those steps and got the paid download, I bought a key ages ago and never knew how to install. However, unpack is there but grayed out for every car, says it can't read car data. How do I go about the shader patch? Thanks in advance, I'm completely new to this game and modding in general

EDIT: I figured it out!!! amazing car

Unfortunately there's been another loss in the motor racing world so soon after both Schmitz and Walker; Johnny Dumfries, former teammate of Ayrton Senna died of cancer on the 22nd of March, and his passing has sadly gone unnoticed by comparison.

It would be nice to add a second British Racing Green car to the collection to honor him, as well as adding racing numbers to the currently un-numbered alternate colors too, relevant to those individuals' lives & careers in some way.

Hey Liam it seems like you cannot damage the engine by over-revving it; also, the tyre blur texture appears to have some issues, it kinda goes like in slow(er) motion

Thanks for the reply. The Rennbahn track is great! Exactly the kind of thing I am talking about.

I know you get requests for every pre-war car that was ever made, and I am not going to request another per se. You did say you need a break to build up "enthusiasm" and I just want to stoke that enthusiasm a little bit if possible. I saw that the A22 is your next planned car (which is fantastic) so I just want to suggest you stick with the 1923 cars from other events. That would put your mod (I think of your cars collectively as The 1923 Mod) in the unique position of having the first mid-engined GP car (Benz), but also having Mercedes and Benz as separate manufacturers, which I believe no other GP mod has. Would be f'ing epic! :)

If the UV map is too awkward to add the numbers direct to the skin itself, then the next best option would be to make the numbers a separate mapped entity, similar to how Kunos handles the liveries for their modern F1 car DLCs like the F2004. @SATLAB90 made his Jordan EJ11 mod using this same technique for the sponsors on that car, so if you want to learn how to do it, he's my first recommendation.

I've added in the damage, will update in a week or two. Must admit it's something I've not really bothered with up to now, partly because it's hard/impossible to pin down exactly where the red-line should be with these cars and partly because I rarely have damage on when I'm driving, but it's one of those things that puts the 'sim' into sim-racing so it should be there if possible. Seems a bit binary atm in the way it works but I'll have a rummage through the forums and see if it's possible to do it in a more gradual way.

I can't reproduce the tyre blur thing which makes me wonder if it's a CSP-related issue: either a difference in settings or I've not set the tyre textures up in a way that lets CSP do its thing, they look OK from a quick look at them. Are you seeing it from the driver's viewpoint?
