Check these new in game preview images and think up some questions for our upcoming interview with the developers of DAKAR 18!

The game announced to something of an excitable response from our community members back in January, and with so little known about DAKAR 18 we thought it wise to book in a slot with the development team behind this exciting new sim. As always we value our role of a conduit between the sim racing community and the movers and shakers within the industry, and as such we wanted to open up the opportunity for you to pose some questions to the developers yourself.

So if you can leave as short and concise of a question as possible in the comments section below, I'll do my best to make sure we pass it on to the development team when we run the interview in the coming days... !

Oh nearly forgot, we've got some new in game screens to enjoy too... feast your eyes below:

Those screens assure me that Dakar 18 will not be lacking in the graphics department. My question to the devs would be, what are their goals/aims in the physics department? Are they aiming for a brutal hardcore simulation of Dakar, or rather a not that serious gamepad friendly game like e.g. DiRT 3?

Even though the game has 20000km or so, will many of the sections weave back and forth through the area, or will there be large open areas too?

Also keen to know how the getting out of car to fix things works in practice, and whether you can help free rivals if you find they're stuck.

Am I the only one thinking it's not a ingame screenshots ? Parts of the cars are reflected on the car body, only Raytracing render engine can do that.

How much of a sim is Dakar 18? Details, please. Does it have the depth to appeal to those who want realistic, detailed vehicle simulation and good FFB?
    Steering wheel support?
Damage? Other than visual damage, that is. How accurately is it simulated?
How detailed are the maps? They are enormous sure, so hopefully it's not just generated nothingness
    Modability?
Are you planning to support the game after launch?
Adjustable FOV? Adjustable camera position for in-car view?
Being able to turn off effects like motion blur?
When will we get unedited continuous gameplay footage? The WIP kind, yes.

When I first saw them my immediate reaction was "they're renders not in game", could be wrong of course I'm no expert, just saying what I'm seeing!

No, you're not, but I don't even bother pointing it out anymore. These don't look like in-game by any means. In engine - possibly. But in-game - very unlikely IMO. These look like some pretty complex renders inserted into in-game backgrounds (maybe - the foreground textures and structures still look a bit too good to be in-game, IMO, but who knows). I don't think we've seen a single true in-game screen or video from this game yet.

Looks like renders to me. Good modeling, but definitely rendered in max or something. My jaw will drop if that's in-game images.

It seems that they forgot to put marks of wheels, maybe this way the images lost less credibility

ohhh....the vehicles were deposited by a helicopter, now I understand :p

Will the physics of the vehicles and terrains be realistic?
Will the handling of the vehicles be simulative, using the driving aids to help casual gamers?

Well, images are nice.. but if not 100% sim as we all expect here, at least I hope it will be cool to drive.

    Question

Are there any previous racing games that inspire the development of Dakar 18? Like gameplay mechanics that are not directly related to the game's physics and handling models.
