Cart Factor, GP79 & CSGT: Where is the fanbase?

I seem to be one of those unique individuals that really likes the rFactor mods that seem to have very little interest in RD (not that RD has the lack of interest, rather that RD Club members seem to like other mods more :freaked-out:).

I recall that RD tried to get interest going in Cart Factor a few months ago but got very little response to the race sign-ups (I myself struggled to sign up because RD was a very busy place at the time, with different events every night of the week).

I can't recall the last time a GP79 event was successfull (again due to sign ups) and I am now wondering whether or not the Classic Sportscar & Grand Touring mod would receive the same response.

So - I would just like to throw the question out there. How much interest is there in our hub-bub of a community for these mods? What would the chances be of getting 10-15 people together, someday, to race these classics?

Its tough on ehre

I guess the release of a new pack for Race has got everyone playing that,

I simply cant justify 20 quid on a few cars and 3 tracks. THe cars are simply updated versions of what is there.

RF is a much better game, but sadly on here is swamped.

Would be interested in some fun races if that helps. Keen on most mods really apart from Maganes!!

The CSGT & GP79 mods (along with the Historix mod) are indeed superb. :good:

CSGT has a simply magnificent intro (an homage to the Roger Moore & Tony Curtis series the Persuaders, iirc), even if there is a bit of overlap on the Historix mod on the vehicles, it's great.

However, with the greatest respect in the world, the rF crowd appear to be a very fickle bunch, and will often fill a "new" mod to the rafters for one or two races, and then just disappear off the face of the earth, and seem unwilling to comment on why.

Which leaves us, as Race Directors, somewhat between some rocks and some hard places. It's probably one of the downsides of rF's enormous scope - it's almost a "child in the sweetshop" syndrome.

I haven't raced GP79 for a long time but I would me ecstatic if something were to start up here. I love the mod, and I love the RS11/12 what a beast. I would certainly be up for that and other mods.

[Edit: damn it forgot to log off cristians profile, this is dragos]

First off, howdo gents.. Yes, its been a while. I seem to have filled nearly every day of the week, elsewhere. Not all with rF but most, new and old.
Some of them, have come to an end, prematurely in some cases.

I agree with Stu, I said something similar in a previous thread, on a not too dissimilar subject. Anytime most are asked what they'd like to run, its whatever's newest.

GP79 has never left my 'puter since its beta release, I've not driven in it, for ages.
CartFactor, I race in a league, races are once a fortnight. And for this month, I'm doing funraces on wednesday nights.
CSGT, I did a funrace last night. We ran only the GT 2 litre cars. If I found a slot in my racing schedule, I'd be there...
I like most of the classic racing series, recently finished a TCL league.

Right now, I also run in a NAGT league. Our second season. Again, races are once a fortnight.
NAGT was dismissed here, when I previously mentioned it. A few reasons were given. One of the strangest, was "funky models". In my opinion, that was just plucked from the air. Having seen some seriously "funky models" released, before and since, to serious aplomb.
I'm running in an Enduracers mod league. And again.. races are once a fortnight.
I also partake in a league, with the Caterham mod. I bet you can't guess how often these races are... lol.

The last GP79 race that was held there was a total of 5 of us IIRC, I love GP79 and F1-88 but there doesent seem to be much interest here which is a shame, I think with Race on and Evo people can get straight in and drive with little messing about, where with rFactor requires a little tinkering with Real Feel and Leoffb and whatever to get it just right, but once you do it is brilliant.

We are considering more specialist mods on Fridays in contrast to the Evo Minis. I'd like to have you guys' thoughts.

As long as I am not at work I would love to be able to run the above mods. I agree that we seem to have a problem in the rF community: I know I don't really like the simple mods like Clio's, Megane's, etc - but I also appreciate that there aren't many who like the specialist mods like the ones above. I am not sure whether we will be able to bridge the gap but appreciate your efforts in trying.

Australian V8's and the Truck Races were also huge fun!!!

Truck races will definitely be happening :good: They still come under fun haha.

Bathurst or Nordschleife are thought of as venues for a one-off special event - any other track suggestions? They have to be both good quality and famous IRL also.

GP79 would probably be my choice of the 3 mods.

As to tracks I'd love to see Snetterton get a run out:good:.

I hope I'll be able to do some of the events occasionally though I'm restricted time wise because I work nights here in the UK and most club events run too close to my start time, but I will keep an eye on upcoming races and try to take part when I can:).

Saturdays are difficult aside from the odd special event as GTL has that day. Sundays, Mondays/Fridays and Wednesdays are the most likely.

That there is Ben, but he's taking his time :D. There was supposed to be a scratch Knockhill from the guy who did Vanport but that's been put on indefinite hold.

GP79 all the way. It's easy to get into (funnily enough :D) and the cars are awesome. If there was an F188 event, I'd probably join as well... but again, all of this depends on the times. If there was enough Aussie rFactor interest here some events could be run... unfortunately nearly every guy I raced with back in the day has moved to RBR, which I don't have.

Oh, and car of choice, just for the record:
GP79 - Renault
F188 - Tyrrell

:laugh2:

I like the Tyrell in 79 and the Lotus in 88, but I like trying them all, they feel different have different pros and cons and are just great, the 2 best mods for rFactor IMO and the pdf with 79 is a joy.

Trucks along with the regular F1 events (when they where run on the same day as the real race) where some of the best attended rFactor events, we had a full grid of trucks at Norisring and it was brilliant, the trucks surprisingly take quite a bit of finesse to get good times and are great fun for racing.
