Okay Guys..

I'm gonna start this thread off with some details of my latest atempt at a button box . I made this stand alone panel out of some 3mm perspex sheet, it utilises a Leo Bodnar BU0836 USB 'joystick' controller to connect the buttons and rotary encoders to the PC. Once all the holes were drilled, the panel was trimmed with a 3M made Dry Carbon look Vynil. Its suprisingly realistic and looks even better than it does in the pics!
All the switches are readily avilable from E-bay as is the 20x4 LCD panel and not as expensive as you might at first think!

Its suprising how helpful it is not having to look for buttons on the keyboard mid race as the switches on the button box fall to hand much easier! If enough people ask, I will write a comprehensive tutorial

Ye, I could get some proper stickers which say what each button does

Is it possible to add lights on this box which will start flashing when for example the engine is overheating or your tires need to be changed?

Not easily, but I am working with a big supplier on some very nice LCD displays atm, stay tuned

I was looking at thouse Servo extension Leads in your tut thread, so are they 2.54mm pitch same as Leo`s board and do they do any 2 pin to use on the button pins?

Yup!

They will fit BU0836 / sli-m etc Ebay and buy from Hong Kong, cheap as chips and very handy

Hi Brian.

The button box tutorials are fantastic. Are you still planing on more? I was going to order a button box pre-built, but I think I will build my own. The only issue I have at the moment is working out the wiring, but I think you covered that previously.

Hi everyone
i need some help
i use http://www.simracing-tools.de as my dashboard as it is free and easy to use
they also have the option to create a button box and assign buttons
but i dont understand nothing of html or java http://www.simracing-tools.de/simtools/index.php?id=assign-buttons-to-button-box could some of you experts help to make one for use on ipad
