Welcome to the central discussion thread for the latest round of the 2019 British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton.

The fastest circuit in the UK, Thruxton often produces fierce racing action with an added element of danger and excitement, giving teams and drivers plenty to think about as they navigate through the fast sweeps of the Hampshire track.

Last time out at Donington Park was pretty much a feast of accidents throughout the field, with Andrew Jordan having a nightmare weekend incurring severe damage from his race one, lap one accident exiting the Old Hairpin. Jordan would lose ground in the title fight having to miss the remainder of the racing action at Donnington, and the former champion will be keen to push his BMW right up to the front of the field on a track that should suit the slippery new car.

With the typically uncertain British weather, a large and closely packed field, a fast and exciting track and all to play for in the series title fight - this should be a great weekend of racing ahead.

I fear the BMW may dominate this weekend too. The weather at Brands complicated things for them but at Donington Park they looked a step ahead of everyone else. With Thruxton being such a high speed layout and very tough on tyres and the RWD rivals down on straight line speed they have to start out as clear favourites.

Alan Gow and the powers that be are generally pretty good at levelling up the playing field in the btcc. Let's hope if the bmws have a dominant weekend at Thruxton that they are pegged back a little in the next round.
