Reiza Studios have again made available for purchase new racing simulator Automobilista Motorsports Simulator after a recent Copyright Infringement claim forced the Brazilian studio to withdraw the title from Steam.

On March 29th 2016 small Brazilian development team Reiza Studios were forced to withdraw from sale new racing simulator Automobilista Motorsports Simulator (AMS) due to an undisclosed copyright claim by an external party.

At the time of withdrawal Reiza's Renato Simioni rightfully refused to confirm details of the claim other than stating that no specific reference to content allegedly in breach of copyright has been referenced.

As is the rules with any such DMCA claim if the claiming party fail to escalate the claim to the courts within two weeks of the initial notice (i.e. no actual legal motion against what has been claimed to be in breach of copyright) then the subject of said claim can return to its original position and resume sale.

This is a fantastic piece of news for the sim racing community in general and Reiza Studios in particular as AMS is showing signs of being a significant step forward from previous titles produced by the studio.

Indeed despite much speculation and suggestions from the sim racing community no official confirmation of the copyright claim and content claimed against has been released by either Reiza or the claiming party. It is advisable to not begin speculation on this subject again and just simply rejoice that the potential impact on both Reiza and the sim racing scene in general has been minimal and studios such as Reiza can continue releasing high quality racing tracks and vehicles for sim racing enthusiasts to enjoy.

The whole episode has been an unfortunate blot on what is otherwise an enjoyable pastime for many people and I for one am glad that common sense has prevailed and we can all get on with what we enjoy most: Racing these wonderful machines.

Don't forget to check out the RaceDepartment Automobilista Forum for top quality Club Racing, gossip news and chat as well as a comprehensive (ahem) Mods section.

So its back! Do you think the temporary withdrawal from Steam sale has helped or hindered the progress of Reiza's latest title? If you didn't have it before, will you be getting it now? Let us know in the comments section below!

I'm planning to put the old liveries up on the download repository, since I backed them up.

I don't mean to plagiarise, I'm not going to go and say 'oh yeah, I made them, herp-derp', just want to give people the ability to put them back in if they want.

I'l hold off, however. If people see it as bad form, I won't do it, but I can't be the only one who wanted to keep the fakers

Great news indeed! Much better liveries too! win-win
The nasty individual that filled that claim must be felling cheated now lol, cause FOM we know it wasnt.
gogogo Reiza!

That´s very good news. Whoever was trying to harm Reiza´s business with a false claim has utterly failed and I´m happy that it went that way.
Those guys at Reiza are doing a lot of things right, they deserve their success ...

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, why would they remove the liveries if it hadn't been FOM?

Really happy to see.

Its a pleasure to see the community pull for Reiza. Despite the setback this may have caused the team, there is still a lot to look forward to...now bring on the DLCs!

I still haven't updated AMS, should I get the old liveries & save them? :p
If you want to keep them, I recommend you back them up.

I think the most appropriate thing there is the "Posts, attachments, uploads or links which contain original game files are not allowed." under Intellectual Property. Things, these skins technically aren't part of the game anymore, they've been patched out.

Given this information however, I'm not going to risk it. It feels crud that someone else may want to keep the original skins, and can't get them back, unless you ask Reiza staff. I'm not sure if they'd be willing to let anyone have them anymore

Great to hear, although I'm worried about Porsche knocking on their door with guns next, with the coming "Boxer" Cup and all.

Though come to think of it, a lot of smaller devs do make really close lookalikes, I guess it's going to be a one out of a thousand chance.

@still_guns yeah it may be a little crud and I'm sorry about that but we can't hold double standards. The permission thing has always been a key element of our policy and in fairness to previously removed content and to keep ourselves on the right side of developers/modders/ip owners we have to respect their rights.
