Assetto Corsa Vive Basestation Issue

Hello i'm having some troubles with AC running openvr with the vive from Content Manager. I load the game up but the base stations will never turn on. The only way i can run it is if i open SteamVr first, then launch from CM. Which gives a message about the game running on desktop and inside the vive headset, this gives me really bad frame rates to a point where it's bareable playable.

Has anyone else run into this issue or heard about others having the same issue? I would really appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer.
