Assetto Corsa Released on Steam Early Access!

After months of waiting the moment has finally arrived. Assetto Corsa is released by Kunos Simulazioni on Steam Early Access.

Players can buy the game saving 22% of the retail price, getting the access to the beta version, including its updates, and they will receive the final version of the game, when it will be released, without any additional charge.

Assetto Corsa is already in advanced state of completion. Meanwhile some features and structures are under progress and testing, the...

On the replay playback is it possible to do slow motion reverse? It seems there is only forward slow motion.

Also I'd like to see one replay view with interactive free camera rotation and zoom.

Possible bug: I was watching a replay (from the pause menu during driving) then clicked exit and was put back in the car rolling, then it stopped and I can't continue driving. The pause menu "Resume" is greyed out, so I can't select it.

Amazing physics Kunos! :) Only slight flaw i am experiencing so far is antialaising. A lot of flickering of poles and such. Any way to fix this? That and i only see 5 tracks. Thanks

Early Impressions from a few laps at Imola and Silverstone.

Very slick and clean UI
Graphics look great (a few jaggies though with 4xAA) and it runs very smoothly.
FFB - no doubt I need to play with profiler and ingame settings a bit but it feels alright but nothing mindblowing to be honest.
Control options are very limited compared to the old sims. FOV, driver seat position and car controls like neutral/ignition/start etc need including.

Overall its shaping up to be a great sim

Using window mode F11 i am able to configure the game. Now when i go to the track I get several errors
Createtexture2D depthStencilTexture failed
Createdepthstencilview failed
createshaderresourceview depthresourceView failed

What about physics?

A fair few bugs here, but otherwise its quite nice.

With motion blur set to anything but off, the tracks dont load - it simply goes back to the main menu.

Trees are rather square - a bit worrying going at 200km/h at Monza '66 going towards what is now the Ascari chicane, as the square trees completely block the circuit.

Graphics are nothing like what I expected - not sure if thats my computer or the game. Putting the Anti-aliasing up causes a huge frame rate drop.

And the off track excursion penalty is extremely annoying and causes the car to behave very oddly.

First impressions - not sure if it was worth the wait. It is a nice, I'd say "appropriate" driving sim (too early to call it a racing sim, since there is no one to race against), but nothing to write home about. Perhaps it is due to the hype - I have been waiting for it like it was a Holy Grail, which obviously was a mistake. Driving is correct, but so is in rF2/GSC, but here lacks the emotions (perhaps it;s due to the lack of any opponents), the feeling of immersion is worryingly low. The cars sound kind of bland, performance-wise it hasn't changed a bit since the TD, but I get microstuttering, something I did not have in the TD.

Things that do irritate me:
-no way to change the driver's position,
-no way to get rid of the steering wheel,
-why does the pit limiter turn itself off automatically? Am I too dumb to press a button?
- the car slows down automatically whenever I cut the track?? What in the name of satan is this?
- I guess letting us assign the clutch to a button (for those who do not have the physical clutch pedal) is still a WAY better option than having it forced in automatic mode.
- I was under the impression there'd more tracks, not just five

If I was an average arcade-style console racers fan, I'd probably be impressed, but so far I am not.

On the replays, I now see that the button labelled "Exit" is actually a restart button, which starts the clip over from the beginning, rather than exiting replay mode. I don't know if that's a bug or just a mislabeled button.

I sense a graphics card upgrade in my future. I will definitely need something with more performance by the time the feature complete AC 1.0 is released. Has anyone come up with some Nvidia Inspector settings? I tried a few of the settings in-game and I still get very distracting jaggies on the tree shadows across the track. I can't turn up the settings anymore without a slow down.

I'm gonna guess that the slowing down while off track is a way to make sure that people don't cut corners too much and set too fast lap times, a feature that wouldn't be present or available to toggle on/off when doing a race against others instead.

What about physics?

Sorry yeah physics seem believeable and natural, thats the best i can describe it really. I tend to drive race cars and no drifting so I don't need to work the wheel too crazily but with the 458 roadcar I am using alot more rotation and it feels very natural and fun.

I found bumping ingame ffb to 125% has given me abit more roadfeel in the 458 at least. I would say its a bit numb in places still though, I was expecting more of a GSC rubber meets road feel.

As mentioned before it really needs more control options, who really cares about driver genstures geez.
