Kunos Simulazioni's Licensing Project Manager Marco Massarutto has shared two brand new images of some interesting upcoming content for Assetto Corsa, the little known Czech built Praga R1 sportscar.

Weighing in at 592kg and producing 210bhp from a Renault Sport Formula 2010 2.0 Engine, the Praga R1 is designed as an "Lightweight, Extreme downforce, Full-carbon, High safety, Low running cost" sports car designed and built by Czech car manufacturer Praga Racing. Inspired by endurance prototype race cars, the R1 is a full-carbon track car designed around a composite monocoque and competed in the Supercar Challenge series, a series of endurance and semi endurance events held worldwide.

Massarutto posted the above work in progress images showing off the fine detail Kunos are developing in order to bring this unique car to Assetto Corsa. Not a lot of information is known about how many variants of the car will be coming to AC as Praga produce both the R1 and its bigger, more powerful, brothers the R1R and R4S, or indeed when players might expect the new car to be available in game. Be sure to keep an eye out at RaceDepartment for more news on this as and when it becomes available.

A very interesting change in direction from Kunos with the latest teasers, do you think the R1 will make a good addition to the sim? Are you glad to see more vehicles from less high profile manufacturers? Let us know in the comments section below!

@Paul Jeffrey In the first paragraph in the last sentence you called it Prada. I don't know why it is bugging me so much...

Yes, I think it will create some fun and close racing

Are you glad to see more vehicles from less high profile manufacturers? Yes because it gives them some publicity and most of them are really interesting as we might not have heard of them.

Ha! I knew I'd write Prada!!! Checked it three times too :D Updated... thanks!

It's also from Slovakia, not the Czech Republic

It's Czech :)

"Praga is one of the oldest automobile manufacturers in the world.
The brand was born more than one hundred years ago and it has been producing cars and trucks for various purposes since the year 1907. During the years of the First Czechoslovak Republic, Praga began with production of planes, military vehicles (including several light tanks), motorcycles and agricultural machinery. Praga therefore participated in the technical and industrial growth of the first half of the 20th century.

Currently Praga is focused around motorsport, go-karts, street cars and is working on the development of its new private aircraft. Check out more about Praga History, Praga Karts or Praga Aviation."

My bad, just checked their Wikipedia page and their HQ is indeed in Prague.
Evo fooled me. lol

As cool as it may be, like Stefano said, cars like C9 are under appreciated and sort of forgotten, I sort of have the same feeling about cars like this. (btw, I like the car)

I love the C9, but there's just nothing to race it against. It doesn't stand a chance against the 787B and there are no other Group C cars available. That's one of the few concerns I have with Kunos' car selection, they don't really offer a lot of compatible, in-period cars. I mean, look at the F1 GTR, there's nothing to compare it with either.

Would be great if ac didn't have physics that feel like your driving on marbles. Could very well be that i use default setup. Don't have time to play it enough to do setups.

Hmm, this car reminds me of a mix between a Caparo T1's body philosophy and Ariel Atom's general idea. Super light, not too much horsepower and super high downforce. Really cool and can't wait to try it. Although tbh I'd far prefer the Praga R1T which seams to have 130hp more while 32kg heavier. Either way, this will be a monster in the twisties, can't wait to try it at Magione and Trento!

I have as much fun racing people in the same car. Everyone drives differently.

which is why I don't agree having random legendary historics from 1 class thrown into the game, I literally don't drive 95% of the cars because of that.
