strange since the TD was fine for pretty much everybody...
Yep looks like they might have just missed something , Im going to reboot again just to be sure but i get the impression that the game is looking for an authentication file that is on there dev pc's but not on peoples home pcs.
EDIT : To fix this issue just Delete the Assetto Corsa Folder From your windows documents folder and then relaunch the game on steam.

Bought it, I'm a f***ing sucker, with no selfcontrol whatsoever :/
Ehh. something is wrong here.. Menu's broken for anyone else? Seems to be steam overlay causing weird stuff?
I don't buy games very often but this was INSTANT!
