Assetto Corsa Competizone - Gamescom 2018

Just a thread to discuss, share or link anything from the show....

With the announcement of the Nvidia RTX yesterday, we know we will have new GPU options that are extremely powerful for high framerate for multi-screens, 4K or VR.

Interestingly, Assetto Corsa "Competiziano" as called amusingly by Jensen Huang will be the first ever racing simulation to use real-time lighting, shadows and reflections. What will this mean for the already high quality graphics, is anyone curious excited or just not bothered?

First glimpse:

So far the only official image released:

Simtag have several setups to play Assetto Corsa Competizione at NVIDIA Palladium, in Cologne.

Marco is sharing more info and videos on his FB page.

Here

Several rigs in action.

Dev Response:
The build at Gamescom is the same as used in Spa 24H.
No Ray Tracing, just good old UE4 screen-space reflections.

Looks like RTX features will not be implemented until later
Should we assume, perhaps sometime after the Sept 20th release of the cards?

Perhaps Battlefield 5 will get the honor of being the first released title to support the new RTX features? It would however be good to get confirmation on which update potential buyers of RTX GPU will be able to experience the game with the new ray tracing.

"All we need is just a little patience" :whistling:

You would think RTX implementation easier as they can concentrate on cars and tracks as released and as they get better at effects they should be able to go back and update any content

Would be interesting to toggle it off and on with wheel button around a race lap
..."ugh turn it back on ! turn it back on ! " p

Some jazz about ray tracing, looks great but pretty sure most people will disable it for extra fps.
Also i don't know why they got bill bailey to present this, does he sim race?.

Clearly, in some videos the fps was above 100
The game is not optimised nor is the drivers. This was the Spa 24Hr build of the game at Gamescom so what we get soon in the Beta will be even further developed.

Which just by chance arrives a week or so before the 2080 is sold and new drivers will be available.

It seems apparent that titles that offer "Ray Tracing" will need slider controls to limit how much it is applied to then balance framerates with the card used. No different really to other graphical options. This will then mean cards like a 2070 or right upto a 2080ti will be able to use the feature in supported titles.

What we are told is that titles that have shown RTX features, the developers so far have had very little time to implement it or get to grips with it.

The perspective seems to be that people will be able to balance how it is used with other graphical settings to achieve 60fps. People will not be forced to turn it on and have to settle with 30-50 fps. Its a choice for the user what resolution or detail they want to experience the game.

Do they want multiscreen, ultrawide, super ultrawide or 4K 60fps+ or possibly experience RT in 1080p with 60fps+

Hope they end up implementing DLSS in AC2 or maybe they can't afford the Ai learning

This would have far more appeal then RTX as it improves looks and is faster then TAA

P.S.
Early days even in BF5 your reflections are no more then static models move left-right
Years to come you will have reflections of your customized characters with real time animation
good enough to shadow box
