I'm in the same boat there Ryno. Having just looked at a couple of CPU hierarchy sites, the old 4790K still holds up pretty well against current mid-level i5 CPUs - and it's certainly above the minimum spec - so should be ok!

I was just looking up a comparison to the recommended i5 chip, and it looks like my i7 is about ~15% slower than that one in real world tests. I guess the difference will be in how ACC deals with cores/threads. If it uses them all then I might be OK. I'm a VR junkie now, though, and I like running in large fields. I run races with ~40 AI at Spa in a mixed GT3 class (every Kunos GT3 plus a few mod cars, and a couple BOP'd GTE cars) quite often, and I can't maintain 45FPS in some spots on the track and sometimes get the 100% CPU warning.

Maybe I'm just greedy :D

Core i5 4440 3.1 Ghz here (Jan 2014) + 16 GB RAM + three SSD HD and a GTX 1070ti card here, all running on Win 7 Pro… i am quite curious to see how ACC will run on a Full Hd 40” monitor (1080p) with my bottlenecked sysytem.

I can usually run AC between 90 and 120 fps avg.

VR for my Oculus will be a completelty different match in October, of course.

Well the only bottleneck is your CPU, the rest should be more than fine. Graphicswise you should be fine with high/Ultra settings for EA atm. Im curious how ACC will demand the CPU with a full field of AI on the track. My Core i7 6700 is fine with the standard of 24 cars in AC, but I start to have problems with my CPU when going beyond 30 cars. But this is track depending of course. We will see how well optimized ACC already is for EA this evening :D

I can't resist:redface:
I bought a copy for my son, he's on W10, he's struggling to get it to work
my copy started first time and runs fine once I adjusted the settings on my W7.
So for the doubters it runs on Window 7.

Update: he's up and running now, needed new AMD drivers.

No clue as to what the problem is here, but when i launch it it runs some first time setup checks, goes through those, then goes to a black screen, loads for a second then goes back to desktop. If I try again, i get the same results! Great start.

I don't know if it is the right place to post, but I post some benchmarks I have made to check my system, just in case it may help people who are looking for a new pc or upgrade for ACC.

I have build my pc for assetto corsa, not ACC.
I am pleased to see it runs pretty well for ACC too.

core I7-8700K
MSI GTX1070ti gaming 8G
16 Gb ram DDR4 3000 Mhz
2560 x1080 (means 1/3 more pixels as 1920x1080 )

Benchmark are made with MSI after burner, recording during two laps. various events.

Epic - Hotlap:
(means all at max, event hotlap, start record when on track ready to race, and during two laps)
23-09-2018, 18:45:42 AC2-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 24572 frames rendered in 264.078 s
Average framerate : 93.0 FPS (124 in 1920x1080 ?)
Minimum framerate : 77.6 FPS
Maximum framerate : 109.3 FPS
1% low framerate : 76.8 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 70.1 FPS

Epic - Shadow high - Hotlap):
(same as above with shadow on High instead of Epic)
23-09-2018, 18:52:55 AC2-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 30733 frames rendered in 264.391 s
Average framerate : 116.2 FPS (155 in 1920 x 1080 ??)
Minimum framerate : 97.7 FPS
Maximum framerate : 137.0 FPS
1% low framerate : 95.9 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 83.1 FPS

Epic - Shadow high - Post processing High - Hotlap:
23-09-2018, 19:00:23 AC2-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 30433 frames rendered in 262.359 s
Average framerate : 115.9 FPS (155 in 1920x1080 ??)
Minimum framerate : 97.5 FPS
Maximum framerate : 135.9 FPS
1% low framerate : 95.1 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 79.9 FPS

Epic - 20 cars - event sunset:
23-09-2018, 20:08:19 AC2-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 23228 frames rendered in 289.422 s
Average framerate : 80.2 FPS (107 in 1920x1080 ??)
Minimum framerate : 46.2 FPS
Maximum framerate : 98.1 FPS
1% low framerate : 49.0 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 44.3 FPS

Epic - Shadow high - 20 cars - event sunset:
23-09-2018, 20:23:28 AC2-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 25260 frames rendered in 289.813 s
Average framerate : 87.1 FPS (116 in 1920x1080 ??)
Minimum framerate : 73.7 FPS
Maximum framerate : 101.3 FPS
1% low framerate : 65.8 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 57.2 FPS

Epic - Shadow high - Post processing high - 20 cars - event sunset
23-09-2018, 20:31:12 AC2-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 28328 frames rendered in 306.468 s
Average framerate : 92.4 FPS (123 in 1920x1080 ??)
Minimum framerate : 72.8 FPS
Maximum framerate : 106.3 FPS
1% low framerate : 65.0 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 51.3 FPS

=> Shadow set to High instead of Epic has a big impact on framerate.
=> Post processing set to high instead of Epic has about no impact.
=> Race with 20 cars has a significant impact . (In my case I can admit that I am not CPU limited)

I let you comment further, which I will not do !
