Assetto Corsa Competizione Early Access Release 5 is OUT

v0.5.0 Changelog
- New Emil Frey Jaguar G3 car.
- New laserscanned Circuit Zolder racetrack.
- New special events with online leaderboards.
- Fixed disappearing main menu UI in VR.
- Texture memory optimizations.
- Fixed a chase cam rotation bug.
- Fixed a TV camera bug.
- Car light improvements in TV camera views.
- New inertia calculation method and new more accurate inertia value (advice for setups, use softer fast damper to let the body move and settle, instead of having the car and wheels jumping)
- New motion ratio calculation for dampers resulting in more accurate values dedicated for each car.
- New ABS feature. ABS now never lets higher than 70% difference between left and right brake pressure. Improves behaviour on extreme torque vectoring, like braking and going through a water puddle with one side of the car, but can result in inner wheel locking if driver insists braking hard while turning into a turn. Might need more rear brake bias on certain cars.
- Improved ABS logic, resulting in better turn-in under braking, on certain cars (most notably modern cars such as the Huracán, F488, BMW M6).
- Improved TC off on gear-change functionality. TC is instantly switched off and on again when a gearchange occurs, in order to protect the engine and drivetrain from heavy vibrations, especially on situations where kerbs and the engine limiter are involved (part of real cars' TC logic too, occasionally they will even not allow the gearchange). Now the TC off timing is car-dedicated and optimised. Some cars might handle a gear change better than others.
- Improved tyre thermal model, especially wet tyres.
- Improved tyre grip when tyres are overheated, such as after a spin.
- More tyre wear when tyres are overheated, no free meal.
- Corrected bumpstop position and functionality of the Ferrari 488 GT3.
- New ECU maps for all cars. ECU maps now influence power, fuel consumption and throttle maps. Usually the lower number is the more powerful and has the most power consumption. After the initial 3-4 values, it switches to wet ECUmaps with similar power and fuel consumption but different throttle maps. Please check the official forum for all the released cars' ECU map characteristics.
- New launch control for all cars. Now with manual clutch, just engage 1st gear, put the clutch and accelerator to the floor and the engine will stabilize around 5000rpm. Release the clutch gradually while keeping the accelerator fully open to avoid stalling.
- Audio engine optimizations
- Fixed potential wrong volumes switching cameras
- Fixed time multiplier for the end race replay
- Fixed wrong trackmap cars position during replay
- Intro sequence updated

:/ oh well, maybee next release then, hope for final anyway. Thought that 1070 will last me 4-5 years ;) But seems that after 2 it's junk already. And the prices of new ones are just stupid aaand Nvidia upping the performance with 20 series taking the pi$$ ;)

Cheers for head up at least I'm not sitting at work hyped like a child :p

Not missing anything chap played all of 10 minutes, will be parked until next release
Also a 1070 owner; mirrors seem to be the biggest FPS for me

Playing at 1440p 144hz <EPIC> settings, except for any that hinder visibility and may interfere with my performance on track. AI performance has always been a non-interesting feature for me, I care how it performs with 40+ or max players on server for the upcoming RD GT Championship.

We will find out at day 1 release I guess.

2560x1080 so not that high. Well just being spoiled with other games where i can crank everything to the max and not drop below 60 in any situation. Unfortunatley with this im not albe to do that :(
That's true... I have to say I don't yet "see" the step forward visually but that's probably my personal taste. Looking into details the increased gpu load compared to other titles is definitely okay. I lowered most settings to the point where I don't see a real difference but my gpu load feels it.
Some settings look basically the same going from ultra down to medium but at low they really change or become deactivated.
Important: I lowered the resolution scale. Native 1440p with lowered res. scale still looks better than my old 1080p monitor at 100% or higher.
Anyway, these are the settings I used yesterday. No idea if anything changed with today's update!

Have a testrun:
Note: I'm using locked 60 fps with gsync so v-sync is disabled. Also 83%*3440x1440 equals to resolution scales auf 190% for 1920x1080 and 150% for 2560x1080. But no idea how resolution scale hits the GPU at different resolutions. I'd say you're both fine with 100% :)

How many AI?

With a full grid it will drop but not due to my 1070. It'll stay above 50 fps during the starts and then quickly go back up.
12 visible cars seems to be the sweetspot between performance and broken immersion. i7 2600k @ 4.4 GHz over here.
There's why you hit 60fps then lol - knew there was more to it.

Just tried limiting AI and report the same, but the AI popping in and out of view is seriously terrible.

Great looking new car and track. Zolder seems indeed pretty heavy regarding fps.
Some more as hungaroring.

Seriously, nothing is perfect in this world, but this game has really his own character and i love that. There is obviously a lot of work behind it.
I personally have fun with this sim, but i love for sure gt3 cars already.

Yep.. It's annoying. From what I remember a full grid was okay for my graphics card. My old i7 died some deaths though... But it was about the 1070, wasn't it :p

"Features: Multiplayer (Enhanced)" So whats new on the Mp side of things?

There's a good post about the multiplayer in the AC forum. They basically acknowledged that they didn't like the direction the coding was going and it was going to limit what they could do, so they are doing a full rewrite. No multiplayer updates this time around, but it will be better in the future.

For this release, the graphics are still an issue. VR is still very blurry and not crisp. This is a bigger issue since triple screen support isn't there either. Zolder is a little heavier for me than other tracks, but it isn't terrible. I still see ghosting in replays unless I use Epic aliasing settings.

I'm a huge fan of the Kunos team and the first AC, but we're three months away from a full release by their schedule and this game is a long ways away from being viable for me. The graphics, which were supposed to be a strength are a real liability right now and the VR implementation is very basic (no mouse support).

I'm not sure what is going to happen in the future, but they have a lot of work to do.
