Assetto Corsa Update 1.14.4.jpg

Kunos Simulazioni have deployed a small update to Assetto Corsa today, adding a couple of very interesting new things...

Released without much fanfare for the PC version of the title, the new 1.14.4 update does address a few minor issues existing within the latest build 1.14 version of the title, however perhaps the most noteworthy item in the new change log should be the live axle update for not one but five of the cars already in the simulation.

Kunos developer Stefano Casillo‏ recently took to social media to congratulate Assetto Corsa physics engineer Aristotelis Vasilakos who "finally solved a problem on the solid axle that have been troubling my sleep for years", however players of the sim never expected the fruits of those labours to be deployed to the public version of the title quite so soon. It looks like with the first deployment to the Alfa Romeo GTA, Ford Escort RS, Maserati 250F 6cyl & 12cyl, Toyota AE86 (in both stock, drift & tuned variants) of the new live axle 'breakthrough' we are starting to see a slight shift in direction for some of the cars in game, all for the better in Kunos' quest for realism with Assetto Corsa.

Other highlights from the new build include some further AI tweaks on a couple of cars and a number of real world liveries for the awesome Maserati MC12 GT1 that was introduced to the sim as part of the recent 'Ready to Race' DLC pack.

Build 1.14.4 Change Log:
  • Improved Ferrari 312T and Lotus 72D AI
  • Renamed CPU line in Render Stats app "MAIN_T" as "Main thread" to avoid confusions
  • Corrected Mercedes C9 front tyre wear
  • Corrected Glickenhaus SCG003 setup dampers slider numbering
  • Improved live axle simulation
  • Updated live axle physics for Alfa Romeo GTA, Ford Escort RS, Maserati 250F 6cyl & 12cyl, Toyota AE86 stock, drift & tuned. Old setups might need to be tweaked again.
  • Added seconds in timeline when replay length is over 1 hour
  • Fixed Delta Graph script on Mclaren P1 GTR
  • Real-life racing liveries added for the Maserati MC12 GT1

Available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation from Kunos Simulazioni currently has up to 75% off on Steam.

Live axle update... made a different to the cars in your opinion? How is the game post update? Let us know in the comments section below!

Not one system ever will be good enough for everyone. But I think immersion is far more important in a wannabe realistic game than anything else.
I think that priority should be on making people drive sensibly and streamlining the process so more actual racing happens...irl if you do something stupid in a race it's a few weeks dispute process to decide whether you get your position, and if you're cutting a bunch you get taken out of the series or lose sponsorships, individual video game races are not important enough to need that sort of thing. If you want to run a weekly championship then you can do all that stuff with human stewards but for quick races I want something that applies quick punishment for going off track.

Just my tuppence worth. In game penalties should be turned off if they seriously damage someones race because of no fault of their own, ie, being forced off or avoiding a crash etc. But there should be no reason to have them anyway. As responsible, fair minded, gentlemen racers with morals they should just stop cutting the track at advantage points. They know what they are doing. They even say their lap times will suffer if they don't do it. Well it's cheating. I am talking about all 4 wheels over the white line on tracks. The rule is plain. You must not do it.
I have actually had a discussion with one of the faster cheats who I saw doing it lap after lap on various corners. When I confronted him he denied doing it. When I showed him the pic of him doing it, he didn't respond.
Others have told me to leave it alone and just do as they do. Mike Davies, Christian Moreau, Daniel Trap, Matheus Machado, Toby Kederer to name just a few who I have watched lap after lap doing this.
It's this behaviour we need to get rid of if everyone is to race on a level playing field. I never go over the white lines with more than 2 wheels. I actually slow down or roll off just so this can be achieved. Others will not do this because they know it puts them at a disadvantage to others that carry on doing it.
This pic of Mike Davies demonstrates the blatant ignorance of the rule. Every lap without fail. And not just on this corner. But no doubt one or two of them will see this and try and belittle me.

You do know that they're improving the cutting rules more and more right?
The pic is outdated.

Furthermore.

Aren't we straying a LITTLE bit from the point of the topic?

I thought this was to talk about the update. Not a track cut detection and penalty system, thus personally I hate AC's system.

Back on topic...Kunos coming with another good update. Any update that fixes and improves things are good. I believe this track penalty system is a good debate in AC, but shouldn't we debate this in an another topic than this?

The point is Daniel, some folks including you on most laps were doing this because they could and knew they could do it for the advantage(some even admitted it). And that was against the rules. It's good that Sector 3 are updating the cut track detection, but the point was about the blatant ignorance of the rules. The pic is not out dated as it was proving a point and I tried it the same track yesterday and no penalty. The ingame track limits are not to be used, Rule 8 is.
(Sorry for going off topic)

The point is
You are out of the point and your line of arguments is completely nonsense and idiotic.

To this day I have raced counteless times on RD and other websites and haven't found one driver who was good to the level you say they can be because of cutting. If aliens can gain over 0.5 of a second due to going above track limits I really want to know how as I will definitely root for creating exceptions to the rules and practice just to be in the 0.00000001% that can abuse the track that way, while dying in laughter looking at noobs spinning over kerbs.

Also, do you factor that most of the games have a lower level of grip and even a drag penalty when going off track? Of course not, as you are always inside the track, because you are so good that you are confident there is no way to go faster without being a "cheater".

If you plan on slowing down these supposed "aliens" by being extremely strict on track limits, challenge their laptimes at Monaco or Macau. I'm sure that someone who asks for stability control to make it level will be lucky to even make around those tracks at race speed without hitting the track limits shock police (aka walls).

Have some maturity and make it a level playing field like everyone else: DOING LAPS and becoming faster.

Or become a steward and be the best at verifying track limits, I'm sure someone as obsessed as you in track limits would do really well at it. Best of the world levels of good.
..

Sorry for being offtopic for those who want to read the comments about the AC update. There is some content for us now:

Great update by Kunos once again, the sim is becoming better each day and solid axle improvements are very welcome!

you are acting like the reason you arent as fast as everyone else is because you dont cut the track. This is 100% not the case. This fact could not be more undeniable.

Is someone able to explain this new live axle feature?

it's not a new feature, it's simply an improvement over the existing code to simulate live axle suspensions.. so cars with live axles are now different because of it.
Specifically, cars now have a better behavior in roll, the affected cars are highlighted in the changelog.

Yippi! The master himself spoke to me.

Thank you very much for explaining and supporting our enjoyment. Top work mate!

If the above was true how come i have had to complain a good few times at the abuse of track limits,
and take drivers aside to point out what our rules are..
Now i would like to point out i don't think all drivers do this intentionally or if they do it very rare but i have seen it, guys testing where the limits where, as regards to where the cut penalty actually kicks in.. so yes drivers will cheat to what the game allows to get a faster lap time..:( and i personally will not allow this in the club races i run. i want us all to race to the same set of rules.:)

If everyone just follows what the game limits are, then WE ARE all playing the same rules.

Who cares about where the hell the car is on the track, turn on cut track penalties and let people race! ...you know, like how it is in real life...

You need to have a track limit, otherwise you could just do donuts on the start/finish line (extreme case). Then, you need to let all racers know/understand what the limit is and the penalty for not sticking to it. Lastly, you need to enforce the rule - in ALL cases, for every racer.
Sames rules for everybody, which everybody understands and everybody knows what happens when you break em. Everybody wins, everybody's happy. If you don't cut the track, this doesn't even need to concern you.

Well... take a look at the posts here, no need to discuss that again. The penalties in AC are NOT an option for club racing...
But I'm not sure how you meant that so please don't feel offended :)

What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Quite possibly one of the most childish remarks I have seen on here. I am not fast, I'm a mid pack racer at best and I know it and I will never compete with the likes of you or other fast guys for a podium. But that's missing the whole point of my argument too but I suspect you know that. You are one of the guys who cheat in RRE ignoring Rule 8 and using the games poor track cut limits to your advantage. That is why you are aiming your angst towards me and my stance.
I actually try at all times to keep to Rule 8 purely because they are the rules and I believe if we all stuck to it, the racing is fairer for all of us, fast front runners or slow back markers. That was and is my only argument. I have never stated everyone did it but I have had rude abuse from some of you here who do, privately and on TS when I confronted a few. Some of you have had no problem telling me to do the same or go away and find somewhere else to race. It is no good saying just use the games cut limits when the rules (which you signed up to) clearly state that you must not get all 4 wheels over the white line. Obviously it happens now and again by accident, but if someone is doing it lap after lap and deliberately looking for area's where they can cut the track without a penalty, that is cheating and not in the spirit of fair play.
I take it Mike that you don't agree with Rule 7 by your reply to Rupe? You prefer Game limits (even if they are lenient) instead of RD's rule? I would be happy with one or the other but not both. Have this argument with the staff and see how your big mouth performs.

@Matheus Machado
Your post is nonsense to me. And is a bit silly. My point is mainly aimed at those who ignore Rule 8 on purpose and not by accident I know some sims have track cut penalties and slippy off track sections that might slow you down but I am not talking about those. You are missing the point entirely. I don't say a fast driver is fast because of cutting at all. I say he should slow down a bit to be able to make the corner without getting all 4 wheels over the white line. If he can't do that, then he needs to enter the corner slower. Some racers do look for off track areas where they can get away with it and make a lap faster and that is a fact. It's all about standards and maintaining them. No need for rudeness here, just civil discussion.
Again I'd be happy for game cut limits or Rule 7, but having both is a contradiction. So @Matheus Machado, you are another person who does not agree with Rule 8 by the looks of it. And find this funny too.
Some of those who regularly have a go at me are the biggest offenders. Certainly these two.

(sorry for off topic again, but just defending my point against those who would try and belittle me, although I am getting used to it:))

I think we've read enough.

See track abuse and feel unsatisfied? Report him to the admins, pronto.

Everyone is on the same playing level when coming to race, bound to the same rules, in game and off. For what has been talked about now, I just remark my last paragraph above, this has been said at least 300x and still (during my time as staff, now I'm not) no one has done it in club racing and we still recommend it to racing members. The report is anonymous, so know one outside staff members will know.

The point is you cant find a single piece of evidence that shows you battling someone, and them pulling away by cutting the track in mischievous areas.

It doesnt make enough of a difference to affect anything. Just ignore it and work on getting yourself better. Stop worrying about everyone else!

You are hung up on a rule that no one cares about and the more you keep pushing it, the more you are alienated by a once accepting of you community.

If you have an issue, go through the proper mediums to report it, and stop bitching about it!
