Assetto Corsa: 2014 F1 and GP2 mod previews

Assetto Corsa already comes with a brilliant Formula 1 style car, as a step upgrade to the Lotus Exos T125 customer car, but that doesn't stop the hardcore racing fans from demanding a more up-to-date 2014 version of the pinnacle of openwheeler racing and F1ASR is delivering on that cry from the community.

F1SR modding team, that used to create state of the art mods for rFactor has transformed into F1ASR and with the help of new dedicated enthusiasts aiming to bring to sim racing the best free scratch build community content available.

Besides content for rFactor 2 the team is now also recreating the F1 2014 season complete with all in house 3D designed cars, audio, textures and physics. All content is solely created from the ground up by a team of around 30 artists and modders that have come forward from the sim racing community.

Besides the current F1 season the team has adopted another big challenge in bringing the popular GP2 series to Assetto Corsa as well with a lot of care for miniature details as the mod will come with 13 teams and 26 individual liveries as each driver in the team has a different sponsor package.

We need to wait for the release of Mclaren P1 car as it has ERS and DRS and once its released we can have the details of installing the mechanisms to other cars .

I got to try the Merc, it's a really interesting car and I don't care what anyone thinks but I think the new F1 cars sound incredible, especially from the drivers seat. I love putting all the F1 style cars on a grid to see the differences and improvements. This years F1 cars have incredible acceleration.

Not sure what that is due to but Trying to beat Nico's Time he set at Monza this morning if you live in Cali and afternoon for Italy at Monza. #GlobalRacing if you can beat his time of @nico_rosberg P1 with a 1:26.225, @LewisHamilton P2 with a 1:26.286.Beware that Ferrari boys are going to put a lot of pressure on the Mercedes boys. I not had that issues earlier when playing with it , can you make some kind of video with it please so we can work on it

AFter the QF of today, u can see how realistic this mod is compared with my lap times, as well with Top Speed, i havent ran many laps with these cars on Monza, so im pretty sure i can top Hamiltons lap time with the AMG if i change setup here and there

Uhuh... You didn't even use the 8th gear and reached 340 km/h, while the real Merc boys change to 8th at around 300 km/h.

Great laps man. Plus, I love that you weren't using the 8th gear Just proves how fantastically realistic this mod has become.

As I recall from the commentary today the Mercedes boys were only using 8th once a lap compared with the other teams who were hitting it 3 or 4 times a lap. Remember we can change our gear ratios whenever we want. The real F1 teams can do it once a season, and can't then change back. I'm not saying that prooves it is a realistic mod-there are only a couple of drivers in the world that can attest to that- but it certainly doesn't prove it's not .

Its probably me, but I can't get anywhere near the throttle when coming out of slow turns. It just keeps trying to swap ends on me. I touch the throttle out of T1 at Monza, back slides out. I have tried lowering the rear bump, softening rear suspension, soften rear anti roll bar. Nothing seems to help...?

You can share your setup in the setup forum, let me have a look at it.
The other thing is just being more carefull on acceleration.

You can also try using a higher gear - either by shortshifting or just not reducing that much on the entry.
I liked how Massa kept dropping to 4th on the entry to the Parabolica and switching to 5th the moment he touched the throttle.

Actually with F1 mod, you can't change the gear ratio either, its set
