Assetto Corsa 1.1.1. Update

Well, my game "WAS " working great after I fixed the Dream Pack 1 Problem. Now since the 1.1.1 update, I get an ERROR screen after start-up telling me the "SKINS " I think of about 60+ cars are In error. If I try to load any of the cars on a track, the loading stops on the car with the error. Wonderful, now I can start deleting cars. I think I'll delete all the cars & then let Steam verify cache files & replace them & not enjoy all the after-market car mods I put in. I was playing this game more than any other, love it, but with this screw up update, I think I'll start playing RaceRoom Experience & Stock Car Extreme. At least I don't have to constantly spend time correcting errors. Anyone else have any problems like this or am I the only one? I seen over at WWW.AssettoCorsa.net, there's a few people complaining also. Anyone have a quick fix? Thanks, just had to rant, got better things to do than spend hours fixing errors in a game I'm supposed to be playing & enjoying. Not a Happy Camper right now !!!!!!!!!

I went back to a virgin install of v1.1.1, the modded tracks and cars are not worth the headaches "to me". Between a Kunos AC, pCARS, GSCE, and R3E I find what I need.
Last night I did add a few skins, and one of those wouldn't load, I deleted the skin AC complained about and just went on.
The concept of an open and modifiable game is nice but you need patience to put up with the inevitable problems.

And this is basically why I don't use mods. I don't have the patience to track down an updated mod and keep them updated every time a new game update gets released that breaks the mods.

Based on this, is a clean install the way to go? How do I do that?

Do I delete the whole game on computer or via steam, then via steam reinstall? So it gas to download to of again?

Please explain processes if possible

I have this same issue with some of the mod cars I have as well...the bmw lmr worked after the fixes I made to the files after the dlc install...then I wakeup this morn and now I get this same error when launching AC with the bmw ...which ran fine last night WTF!!!!
not a happy guy here either

If you had mods installed and don't know where all of the files are to delete them, then yes I recommend you delete the entire game, then delete any left over files where the game was installed, Steam/steamapps/common/assettocorsa, then download and install again.

you could just delete the skins, to find out which one, go to your document folder, then look for the subfolder Assetto Corsa then the log subfolder and open the launcher file. when you scroll down you will see all the offending skins and their locations.

you could also delete the car folder in contents under your main installation directory under steam\steamapps\common\assetto corsa then in the steam application, right click on assetto corsa in the left hand pane, go to properties, then the local files pane and click on verify integrity. that will only download the files you are missing. if you altered any game files with mods this will also reset them to the original.

It's just one of those things where you can't always win... they're fixing problems with the game, sometimes that means changing things that mods depend on. People keep reporting bugs with the sounds (crackling, popping, framerate stutter) so they change how FMOD works to fix it - now modded sounds don't work until they've been updated. It's just how it goes.

The errors in the skins are because the skins in question are missing (or have errors in) UI information - they were always wrong, the game's just being more strict about telling you up front instead of just logging the issue.

There's not really a quality control on mods - some have errors, some don't. Maybe it'd be nice to set up a checklist that can be published next to each release that runs through a standard set of tests (check logs for errors, get a benchmark framerate with a 20 car grid, tick features like working pits, number of pits, whether a car's collisions work right) but I don't know who could step up for that. Or how to integrate it in RD's download system.

I just don't get some folks. AC allows mods (this is what the community love about AC), some are awesome (a lot of time goes into them), others are well so so (not all modders are at the same level) but these guys give it out for free, some for a small fee, in their free time.
However the is a bunch of unappreciative "want to have it all for nothing" (WTHIAFN) who complain when things go a bit wrong.
KS work really hard on AC to try and give us what we want, they are constantly improving and optimising things as well. Then due to these changes the mods are sometimes victim to bugs and need to be fixed. Then we have the WTHIAFN's that just complain, shout and scream.
A bit of patience guys either shut up and wait or participate positively, the Modders ,others who contribute and KS will sort it out.
The more I see the complaining the less I see KS participate in the official forums, Do we really want to see KS shut down the modding?

Or maybe atm Kunos not wanna let people to compare mods for their work like Nords, McLaren F1 GTR and many more, certainly there is a reason it's not accident in this case...

I checked and find way to save all mods by editing some values of .ini files, after that mods not cause any freezing but car mods still not work, but addon tracks seems working after that...they did something they don't wanna tell us.

And yes i'm out from AC but I was forced to revise this as i'm so curious to know everything...

Didn't you read the v1.1 changelogs?

Here are some of the changes that influence mods. You think KS didn't have to update their old cars with the new physics and sound?

- Updated FMod to 1.05.13
- Updated Fmod SDK project (minor envelopment improvements)
- Added 4WD simulation in drivetrain.ini
- Added live axle suspension geometry
- [DATA] section in aero.ini is now obsolete and must be eliminated. HEADER=2 is mandatory if damage is used.

Oh wait, I forgot you are a modder. Drag strip bro.

While I agree with you on the folks that want all for nothing, I completely disagree with you on the state of Assetto Corsa is in right now.
I fully expect KS to work hard on AC because right now it is not even close to a full release of a racing game. In my oppinion it´s still more closer to a beta or release candidate because there are too many areas which are W.I.P. like multiplayer physics ffb and other things. So don´t bash on people that are rightfully critizising AC for not being the racing simulation that it has been advertised by kunos on release of V1.0.

If it's not too much trouble, would you tell us what values in the ini files need to be edited? I've held off updating because I don't want to lose the addon tracks.

Not sure if I'm considered one of the "complainers", of so the intend of my post was misunderstood. For "me" AC mods are not worth the trouble for three primary reasons, the quality is not usually up to Kunos standards (graphically, performance wise, etc), many don't work when Kunos updates their code base, and I have other sims that have the content that AC doesn't. With that said, it surely isn't Kunos's fault, they should be able to develop as they see fit and not be troubled with mod compatibility. That is why at this point in time I'm all Kunos - virgin install.

Some of the good cars and tracks already got updated to latest ac version, so is safe to use them.

Another important aspect of v1.1 is that lap times on point to point tracks are supported, so these mod tracks got updated fast, for example the monte carlo stage in 'snow', to be used with 10ºC and Green or less surface.

the zakspeed escort gr5 is also updated: https://acmods.wordpress.com/

Didn't you read the v1.1 changelogs?
.
Read my lips !

After updates I tried several mods like old McLaren F1 car, also I tried their new DLC cars, DLC cars works fine but McLaren F1 car by private modder did not work anymore???

So I'll continue and check if I can make mods working some easy way, but because time is limited so I can't do everything just today or yesterday, I just did a very quick check to AC files and put my own game working a little bit better so if I select some mod so the game not freeze anymore but select the previously selected AC car, I can't explain this better but it all about private modders mod not work after the updates, they ruin good stuff...you can do the same fix to your own game if you need, I myself like mods like Mazda 787b so this issue must solve asap (not really but it's fun to learn something new, I don't know much about AC as I never done any AC mods).

There are two roads! one that Project cars has gone and one that AC has taken. I have paid a really discounted price for AC over a year ago than an additional discounted price for some add on content. I did get PC in December last year at full price for the pre-order!
I have been having a blast with AC for over a year. With PC all I have is images and video of other people in the beta testing. Now I will take AC anyday with its bugs and WIP, it is only getting better as time goes on.
Hey not to say CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICIZING is a bad thing, it's when the folks blow a hissy fit about it, thats just destructive and demoralizing to the hard working dev team and modders

I believe the Mazda 787b mod has been updated for AC v1.1.1. so it should work.
Just redownload the package from RD, haven´t tried myself.

For people still using MSI Afterburner v3.xx I can report that it doesn´t work with acs.exe. That´s the main program for AC when you click on "Start" and want to drive. I´m getting an infinite loading screen with no error message and no info in logs, it just stops loading and will sit there forever. Not sure if the latest version of MSI Afterburner has the same problem, will report back when I have some more info.

Cheers
