If you are still in the PSN group chat, you will have read that some important news is coming regarding the league and next season very soon. This thread will be utilized throughout the season for any announcements, changes, etc.

First announcement I would like to make is that I am now officially the head organizer of this league. Mikey is still going to be heavily involved, but he has been "promoted" in a sense that he will be working with the site administrators to help grow/enhance the PS4 side of RaceDepartment.
I would also like to announce that Milos Ancevski will be my right hand man (replacing me as a backup league administrator/coordinator). We have had several meetings and share very similar outlooks on how we feel we can bring this league to the next level this season alongside Mikey.

Please help me to congratulate Milos on this new endeavor.

I am proud that we are retaining almost the entire grid from the last season and hopefully introduce some new faces for the upcoming season. Something can definitely be said about how strong we are as a group and I can only hope that going forward the bond grows stronger in this league from the top down.

Anyway, that's all I have to update for now. Keep your eyes glued to the forums over the next few days because we will be providing some further updates on how this next season is going to go.

We will be starting the first race on September 26th. Right now, we are eyeballing next Tuesday, September 12th, to begin the car and team selection; more to come later.

    Happy practicing!

    Good day everyone!

It is confirmed that we will start the car selection process this Tuesday, September 12th. I will have the thread posted between 10 and 11am British time, so look for it then.

We are going to follow a similar trend for the selection process as we did for this past season. We will go down the list in championship finishing position order, where you will be able to select the car that you would like to drive for this season.

The only thing we are doing different is that you may NOT handpick your teammate - as this gets confusing with how we are trying to give priority to the championship finishing order drivers first. HOWEVER, if there is someone that you were hoping that you could race with next season, please state such in your car selection post, and hopefully everyone else that is between you and the teammate in the selection process will take another car instead. I think we are all sensible people here and will respect each other's wishes with regards to getting the car everyone wants and the teammate everyone wants.

For example, if MIkey is choosing to reconnect with Guy for next season, he can claim that he would like to drive the Force India, and then nominate Guy as his teammate in the same post. Guy is not yet designated this car until it is his turn to select. Alex, Shellay, Mazais, etc and the rest still have the opportunity to swipe that Force India from Guy if they really want that Force India badly and also Mikey as a teammate.

We will still be starting the season on Tuesday, September 26th, but if you guys would like to organize an unofficial preseason test race to get everyone back in the swing of things and shake the rust off on Tuesday, September 19th be my guest. I personally will be unavailable that day so I am going to keep my hands off of organizing that.

If there are any further questions regarding the car selection, please message me personally either here or on the PSN chat, or post your question in the PSN group chat.

More announcements coming between now and then .... stay tuned.

    Hello everyone.

The next announcement I am bringing to you is on a very highly debated topic - the assists that we will be using for this season. This was quite a discussion we had amongst the organizers.

We have decided that the assists will remain the same as last season. All assists off except you may leave on the racing line and the automatic gearbox. However, we strongly suggest that you do not use the racing line this season.

There is a bit of a footnote that goes along with this. The racing line is an assist that should be an aid for a slower driver to learn the ropes of a racetrack, and those that find themselves at the back of the grid are allowed to use it. We do not want people that use the racing line to be finishing up front on the podium or in the top 5.

Last season, the usage of the racing line was a very controversial topic as people felt it was too much of a cheat and essentially told you exactly when to brake, when to accelerate, and of course gave these hints including where to turn in off camber blind corners. In most people's opinions, the usage of the racing line doesn't really depict a driver's true ability when he is relying on this assist to drive properly around a race track, and we all understand that.

Therefore, we are going to implement a new policy this season. As everyone has the ability to record video on their PS4s, we are going to make it mandatory that everyone records their race and if you finish in the top 5 in a race, you will be required to show the stewards footage of your entire race so that we can make certain that the racing line was not used to achieve that top 5 finish.

We haven't yet determined what exactly the penalty will be if we find that a person in the top 5 used the racing line, but we also understand that at times a driver that ordinarily finishes outside the points manages to "luck" in to a top 5 with the aid of a late race safety car, attrition, or maybe outsmarting everyone on strategy. This is ok - we are likely going to be very lenient based on how we feel your ability level is. If we see that you are using the racing line and regularly scoring large point hauls, we are probably going to coach you and suggest that you pull off the racing line, as it is very apparent you have the ability to finish well in races and can do such without this aid.

We think this is a very sensible approach to this topic rather than forcing a complete ban of the racing line league-wide, as we are aware there are some drivers that are more off pace than others. Especially if we get any new drivers here that may find themselves at the back of the grid, it wouldn't be fair to force them to drive without the racing line. We are hoping that we can police this very strictly at the start of the league, and then hopefully by mid-way through or so, we can trust the regular top 5 finishers that they are not using the line and don't need to ask for your footage in later races.

Looking forward to the car selection process beginning tomorrow!

    ~*~ SEEKING RACE HOST ~*~
    Hi everyone -

Since Harry is not racing with us this season, we have lost our lobby host. Would anybody like to volunteer to be our lobby host each week? Can you confirm if your internet is strong enough to not cause lag / desync / general connection issues?

I know that we used Guy last season, but only as a random backup. We really didn't experience many issues with him as the host from what I could tell. Although, I would rather have a volunteer that doesn't mind the lobby creation as well as ensuring they have all of the other league members on their PSNs and can manage the invites/attendance of people in the lobbies.

Please post in the car selection thread if you would like to host. I would prefer it to be either a UK or Dutch driver to keep it as a well centralized location.

Due to the several issues that we have seen happen during the practice race yesterday, we will not be starting this league on Tues 9/26.

We will do another practice race next Tuesday with Jerry Moorrees as our host instead, and after some further debrief, we will plan to start our first race at Australia on Tuesday, October 3rd.

Further updates will be made to the calendar in regards to our break weeks. Stay tuned for that.

Like it or not, we will be starting the season next week, Tuesday, October 3rd 2017.

Please check the calendar for the most up to date information regarding races for this season. We will discuss some potential fun races we can do during our break weeks (classic cars perhaps?) at a later date.

Also, I want to make myself very clear that we (the management team) feel very strongly about keeping yourselves updated with information about this league via the forums and this thread in particular. The PSN chat is not a means to pass along important information except in real time during the races. It is your responsibility as members of this league to keep yourselves informed of rule changes and other important information via the forums as this is the central location for all things F1 2017 Weekday Championship League. Please make every effort to check this forum on a regular basis.

Thank you all, and we will see you on the grid at Australia!

    Good luck tonight boys.
Please remember to record your qualifying and race sessions for the first race of the season tonight.
The top 5 finishers will have until the end of the day Thursday of the race week to get their videos up on RaceDepartment. Failure to produce a video will be dealt with by the stewards and may result in your disqualification from the event.

    NEW RESERVE PROCEDURE
We have a new problem here at RaceDepartment lately - but it's a good one. At the moment we are growing at a quick rate and we have a lot of reserves now, and it is starting to become rather cumbersome to keep a reserve "pecking order" of sorts.

Going forward - from the Monaco GP - as a reserve, you will now be selected to race first come first serve based on posting on RaceDepartment. Very simple, as a reserve, it is your responsibility to show interest in racing by posting in the appropriate race thread at some point during the week. We are becoming a lot more diligent in getting the following weeks' race thread up shortly after the present GP ends, so reserves will now be able to show interest in racing many days in advance. This will also allow you to get some practice in

We find that this will be the most fair way to keep those motivated in racing in this league available to join as many races as possible should a full time seat open.

So, basically, act first and you will likely get to participate in the following week's GP :)

    Thanks for your time.

    Good day everyone,

Apologies for the championship tables not being up to date, Jerry has stated that he is a little bit behind at the moment but he will get them out shortly.

If anybody happens to have a snapshot of the full quali results / race results for both Monaco and Canada, can you please post them in the respective threads to help Jerry out please? The quicker we can provide those, the quicker we can get the tables updated. I am not going to be near my Playstation until Friday afternoon at the earliest.

    Thank you.

    Good day everyone.

After some consultation with other individuals, it has been decided that we will be reinstating the formation lap effective tonight at Silverstone. However, be advised that the Safety Car will remain OFF at this time until it is properly tested and proven that it will work again.

Also, I would like to make one other comment about conduct on track, which I have seen per the stream videos that the quality of driving in this league has not improved since the last time I made this message. I feel that we have a great group of guys racing in this league and I hope that we all respect each other fully.

We all make mistakes. If you have a problem with a certain individual in this league for their actions out on track, please address this person privately and discuss the incident in question and if there is no resolution, then please bring it forward to the stewards. The coordinator team in this league will be giving out much harsher penalties for inappropriate driving standards from now until the end of the season if we do not see improvement. There is a wide range of skill in this league and that needs to be taken in to account when driving around others that may not be as quick as you. Be patient, be creative, and be respectful to others and encourage those that may be struggling to practice with you and help them out however you can. I hope that I do not have to bring this topic up again.

    Good luck to all tonight.

With the number of reserves we have, it makes sense to organise events in parallel with the main league to keep people driving and in the community.

Therefore, commencing after the Christmas Break, we will be having races alongside the main leagues to keep people interested. These may be copy races involving the 2017 cars or using classic cars. A poll will be added to this post soon with those two options.

I will also be looking for an ''organiser'' of such, to keep on top of it so if anyone is interested, please let me know.

Due to PSN's failure today, we did not run Malaysia. The votes have spoken, and this race will be run instead on next Tuesday.

All reserves except for Ash will be lined back up for any people who back out next week (hopefully not).

Sorry that we couldn't get this in today, but hope you all enjoyed your Tuesday nights anyway.

    Good afternoon, everyone.

We are down to the last 4 races now and it is about time to start thinking about our next season's plans / scheduling / etc. I hope to see you all return for next season, as well as Jamie for commentary. I think we can all agree that the stream has been a great addition to enhance our league and give more exposure to others out there showing our fantastic racing up and down the field.

As done before, if you are a full time driver right now, then you will have first crack at obtaining a full time seat next season as well - that will not change. We will likely follow the same protocol for driver order for team / car selection, but it is still being discussed to keep it interesting.

However, the first order of business is the calendar. Now I know last season we had a bit of low attendance when it got close to exams time, and that's understandable, so we will likely throw in a 1-2 week break in early June to allow drivers to remain completely focused on their exams and not on league racing. If there are any other suggestions for dates that we should skip, please let me know. I will hopefully have a full calendar released by after the USA race on Tuesday night.

Please post in "The Hangout" if you are intending to return or not return for next season so we can gauge interest and see if further recruiting needs to be done. Again, I hope that all 19 of you ( + myself) return for next season.

And of course, any suggestions/ideas that you want to run by us, please let us know!

    Thanks again!

Hopefully you've all had a chance to look at the schedule I posted in the hangout. This is what we'll use for next season since I got no negative feedback otherwise. It'll be different and unique.

I will be making a post for sign-ups for season 10 after next Tuesday's race. This will give exactly one month for us to fill out the grid. Present full-time drivers will get precedent for full-time next season, and then any of this season's reserves will get the remaining seats, followed by any potential newcomers should there be any open seats remaining.

    More Season 10 Information:
    1) The car selection process is set to begin on March 18th. This will allow just over 1 week to try out your new cars and maybe get some practice in with your new teammate. We urge you to try out a different car than this past season (if available). Spice things up a bit!

We will be using the same method as this past season. As mentioned before, we will go down the order by finishing championship position and you will be allowed to choose your car. The Championship winner will be able to choose their car AND teammate. Once we have exhausted all of the full-time drivers, any reserves from season 9 will choose next in order of races completed, and then finally any new drivers will take the remaining cars / fill out our reserve slots.

Please, if you know anybody who is available on a Tuesday night to race, have them sign up! Would love to see some new faces next season.

    2) We will be removing the controversial racing line assist for Season 10, which probably everyone should have expected was coming. I was a bit lenient on this in Season 9, but this will not be an assist that we use in this league going forward. Auto gears will remain available, however.

We will be doing season awards and recognitions very soon, so please keep an eye on the forums to help participate.

Also, I would like to announce that Milos has mutually agreed that he will no longer be a coordinator in this league going forward. For next season, I will be running this league along Mikey and I would like everyone to welcome Hasnain to the coordinator team! I feel Hasnain will be a great sidekick to help co-coordinate season 10 and be very helpful in the day to day running of this league. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to Hasnain to the coordinating team.

More announcements for next season coming soonest, please stay tuned and thank you for signing up! If you havent' already signed up ... well what are you waiting for??

Car selections are about done, so we can officially start preparations for next season.

Just a couple of bullet points I want to go over as a summary of the previous 16 messages in this thread (and Mikey will hopefully update the Rules/Regs page soon) ...

    - Milos is no longer my right hand man coordinator, he has been replaced by Hasnain.

    - Please review the schedule for this season as we are taking a different approach this season to switch it up a bit and follow the same order of tracks as the real life F1 2018 season.

    - Harry has elected to step down from being host due to some internet issues he has been having. Guy will take over as our primary host for now with Jerry as backup. If Harry gets his internet problems resolved, we will move him back to host and Guy as backup. Please if everyone can make sure they add Guytheguy17 to your PSN to make sure you get invited to lobbies!

    - The formation lap is not used in this league.

    - The racing line has been banned

    - If you are signed up to be a reserve, you will be chosen to race first come first serve based on posting on RaceDepartment forums. Very simple, as a reserve, it is your responsibility to show interest in racing by posting in the appropriate race thread at some point during the week. The thread for the following race will be opened directly after the current race is complete (Tuesday night around 9:30pm British time). We will list the reserves in order and if a full time driver is not available to race, we will pull you in order and hopefully you will have enough time to get some practice in.
Reserves will be bumped up to full time should a driver leave based on their participation in races. The more races you do, the more likely you'll be asked to fill a full time seat.

Please be checking the forums regularly, and that goes for everyone that is signed up in this league. Have fun, banter, and make this a great community and lets have a good season!

As advised in the stream you will have an extensive media presence this season.

    Verbal Media
    @Jamie-Lee Mayers
    @Shly38

    Written Media
    @HRacingGreen
    @Milos

Jamie and Michael will be doing commentary on each race, like last season. Michael will attempt to attend when he can which should be for most races.

Harry and Milos will be in control of the written media, example being the gossip threads. You can also expect to see a return of the race recaps, which should be done every 4 or 5 races.

This may well be accompanied by adhoc streams by me and Jamie, maybe including the above people, to discuss announcements and happenings within the league.

This is all being to add to the community feel

    Special Requests for Season 10:
    1. We all know that this game is severely bugged and honestly .. pretty terrible. One thing that really ruins the experience for everyone is when people leave the lobby prematurely. A few times last season, people retiring from the race and leaving the lobby has resulted in extremely random and ridiculous things happening to other drivers connected including sudden screen tear, loss of HUD/MFD windows and loss of slipstream just to name a few.

If you crash and your race is over, we very strongly encourage you to remain in the lobby until the end of the race. I understand that in the heat of the moment after a crash, you probably are not very happy and not thinking logically and are likely to exit the game in anger. Please just take a deep breath for a moment and consider that you had already set aside the time to do an entire race anyway, so there should be no reason that you must leave the lobby. Doing this will likely ruin someone else's race and nobody deserves that because you are upset.

Again, this rule is purely voluntary - we are not locking you ball & chain in to the session. Leaving early from a race is not a punishable offense because it is not able to be proved if you have a connection problem or you rage quit. Just think about others before you make a decision to quit the game.

    2. In the rare occurrence that two drivers qualify with the exact same time, the two drivers will start on top of one another on the grid. This has happened to both myself and @DemoN F1 in the AOR Sunday leagues this past season - with Demon being disqualified from the race because of "severe contact".

If we run across this situation, we will be restarting the lobby after qualifying and using the grid editor that the game provides to reset the lobby using the same weather forecast. We were lucky to not have this occur last season, but we are trying to be proactive now so that we minimize any time lost / arguments due to a game glitch.

If anybody has any questions about the above procedures or wants to see some cool videos of anything that I have written above, please give myself, Mikey, or Hasnain a shout.

Thanks, and good luck to all tonight!
