Alpine Hills thief hunt of 2012 (merged)

Anyone know anything abouth is guy: http://racex.ic.cz/?p=746#more-746

He has stolen my work! Totally, blantantly, no permissions have been asked. He has modified the track, removed the middle strip and added some houses and vegetation. He has changed the name from Alpine Hills to Mountain Roads (that's a crime in it self.. Mountain Roads.. meh..) My active email has been in the original readme files.

That's a big shame! I'm afraid you aren't able to do anything against such "crime". :( You could post in his coments that he's stolen your work just to show your big disappointment...

I think all you can do is send him an email, and make sure it's known in the simracing world. Do not think you can take any legal action against him, mainly judged from where his domain is hosted.

Very cheap to steal work from someone else. Very, very cheap....

When i saw this renamed track i had to ask Kennett if he had given permission because his track is only posted on a few well known sites other than here. It is a shame that people cannot simply just contact the author for permission, it is not a hard thing to do.

I had an idea. Reprisal doesn't look promising, i won't be getting apologies, that's for sure. But instead of trying to hunt this guy, we can destroy his work: make an official conversion! If we spread that version all over the major sites, his version becomes obsolete...

Conversion should be very simple process, it's been done (building AIW and fastline, i needed rF version...). A days job at most.

That guy also converted Mainz-Finthen, but as i am the one with the permission, he certainly does not... i downloaded it, no readme, not from him or Com8 (who made the original rfactor one). good thing: my conversion is better, he uses some random horizon, doesnt use the different road-behaviors, some collision things are not like they should be etc... an my conversion is on Nogrip and Weissbierbude ;)

I think your last idea with your own official conversion is the best without investing money for nothing (legal stuff...). Hope you find a good converter!

Greetings

Make a multi-release of it on all 'platforms' available, at least, to BTB & you've limited a fair spread of where he can release it as well as letting a good many others know about he's been up to....

Ok, the file has been removed. Instead there are some lame excuses: http://translate.google.fi/translate?sl=cs&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=fi&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http://racex.ic.cz/?p=746#more-746

The track is for BMW3 the Challenge, a game that don't support addon tracks... These guys have a community somewhere, they steal all tracks from Race07 (it's basically the same game..). We don't know about them but they certainly follow Race07 modders.

I have no pity that he has lost the will to do any more conversions but at least he claims that he didn't do anything to the track, just hosting it... So the real culprit is still unknown. I got to the next guy, ronnie82. This is his site: http://www.freewebs.com/ronnie82/bmwm3.html

That bastard's had the cheek to take Pinevale and rename it Woodvale, which is the name of the real site. I didn't use the real name because it's not a real track.

Yup, everyone who makes tracks or knows people that makes tracks should take a look at that list.. I'll bet none of them have been "converted" to BMW3 challenge.. Only thing that needs "conversion" is the first line in the GDB file: IGAID: 64 is changed to IGAID: 12( (or seomthing, can't remember now..) Everything else is original... Plain theft.
