Renault’s Fernando Alonso has said his objective for 2009 is simple - to add a third world title to the two he won with the team in 2005 and 2006.

Alonso and Renault experienced a difficult start to their 2008 campaign, but fought back in the latter part of the season with the Spaniard taking back-to-back wins in Singapore and Japan.

With radical rule changes set to shake up the order in 2009, Alonso says he now has to believe the team are well placed to return to the front of the grid when the new season gets underway in Australia in March.

Well it would be nice to have 4 teams competing for the title... Ferrari & McLaren are sure to compete for the title... it would be greate to see BMW & Renault to join them...

Piquet may have a big role to play for this to work..... i.e. crashing out for the safety car to make an appearance.

Hats off to Alonso though, one of the best if not the best driver there, give him a sniff of a win and he'll take it.

Would be good to see Alonso be a genuine contender for the championship again, he always puts in a good drive so deserves it in that regard.

I only can see Alonso wining another championship if Ranault have again the mass dumpers.....
