ACC and VR

Will Assetto Corsa Competizione support VR from its very first day? Didn't see no one mention.

I hope so, otherwise it'll be a huge step back to it's antecessor and it's competition.

VR is not the future , at least not for a few years anyway.
However that's not to say it shouldn't be implemented in games for those who do use it. Everyone wants aspects to be included in games, such as weather and night. So why cant VR be just as important.
I will not be going back to Triple screens now I have VR, even if graphically its not as good. It brings a whole new level to any game.

99% of 500,000 is 495,000 sales and at about £40 per game could be around £19,800,000. That's nothing to be sniffed at.
Then there will be the increase in sales created by those (like me) who wont buy a racing game where developers spent time on VR instead of improving the rest of the game.
And it would also result in a larger player database, further ensuring the life of the game.
Implementing VR or having a small group of people working on it would be a BIG mistake revenue wise.
Do you missed something?
Dude VR it's the thing everyone talking about. In 5 years, 50% of people will racing simulator whit VR!
Your probably not a businessman ;)

CV1 was released more than 3 years ago. Why are we not at these 50% yet?

Oculus Connect September 26-27, hope you are right.
HTC finally released full Vive Pro kit with 2.0 stations.
$1399.LOL

On that Vive Pro kit....
They can release all they want, doesn't mean folks with common sense will buy it at that price.
I have the Rift CV1 and just 'playing' around in Content Manager LOD settings...nothing else, you can 'clean up' visual blurriness quite a bit.
I don't even notice screen-door anymore.

Guys its not hard to understand... when u get a vr in sim racing u cant go back....
ur not behind a screen... your in the car ... its a complete immersion.
Iracing graphic in VR are 2-3 times better than in assetto so if ACC develop Vr like Iracing whit unreal 4 engine its gonna be insane. No way you play this whit a screen...
Just to tell you that i got a 55 po oled 4k ... so it give u an idea ;)

I hope this is the case and I'm more than ready to hop on to VR racing if the next generation will fix those few issues we have now.

But the problem is that while VR is perfect for sim racing and racing games in general, I fear it's not enough to keep VR development alive. Sim racing is so small market that they wont spend millions of dollars to just keep us happy. They really need the whole game industry and every genre to make it profitable. And at the moment it looks bad. I hope I'm wrong but I'm very skeptical that it breaks through for mass market.

I also have seen from very closely how other than us sim racers think about VR. My sons are pretty close to what we can call an average gamer (16 and two 20 years old). They play all those popular games online with friends, like to stream and play single player games so that someone play and others watch and so on. VR isn't that good for those kind of actions. And most of all, there are no content what so ever which they would be interested in. One of my sons actually bought Vive kit half year ago and already sold it away. It was fun about month or two and few nice experiences but that's it. No content and impractical for their use. And they're not the only one who think's that way I fear.

So all in all, I think and fear that if we can't get those masses along to VR hype in the near future it's just gonna die like 3D did few years ago.

But in another argument, motion rigs are even more niche than a niche thing at a niche convention, but they seem to do alright.
Ok, VR may be niche, but there are more and more coming out and more and more AA titles coming out too.
I think it here to stay.

My Playseat is also monitor less too, so no VR no buy for me.

True, same as DD wheels and other sim equipments too. But the big different is that those who develop and sell those are usually very small companies. Usually just one or two guys in the garage. Facebook, HTC, Sony, Microsoft and so on doesn't care products that won't make profit. At least not for long. It's easy to just abandon the project because it's not their main product and if it's not make money to the stock holders.

Then that's a shame, you are missing out on some great racing games, like Assetto Corsa, iRacing, Pcars2, Dirt Rally, RaceRoom, rFactor to name but a few. These are all games where the developers have spent time on VR instead of improving the rest of the game and I would highly recommend you try at least one of them, you may like it.
My post wasn't really meant to be serious, I actually own 4 out of the 6 games you mentioned. I just wanted to show that it's possible to argue exactly the other way round from a business perspective.

My reply wasn't serious either, of course you own most of the ones on my list, most of us here do, in fact you wouldn't be a true fan if you didn't own at least half of them.

3D died a few years ago!, I could swear the last Star War I saw at IMAX was in 3D.:D
That VR reaches "mass appeal" short term, long term or never, will not prevent those interested in keeping using and enjoying it. The only issue, is that price is not going to be as low as if masses get into it.
VR is growing and those who appreciate it, are not ever going back to pancake screen playing.:p

Sims are a very small VR market and my 12 year old is ho hum about VR as well but what really drives the computer world is porn. I heard a professor talking about AI and he said the internet would be much less developed if not for the porn industry. So I think that alone is what will save VR?
