Hi - Just been racing round Abu Dhabi in WTCC's and I enjoyed it so much that I thought I would ask if anyone else has this track and recommend you try it if you dont!

Ok its not totally accurate but its great fun.

Also wanted to ask if there is any reason its not on the RD downloads page - I think it could be a really good track for use in some one off events - maybe the Porsche Cup races after Interlagos?

Anyway, thanks for reading,

Dave

there are 2 rFactor versions - very nice.

the one you posted is what we use in our league.

the other one has the 'underpass' pit exit

I driven the track with the F3000 cars and I have to say the cars a feeling very good with Defualt setup but I am sure they will feel even beter when I finish a setup for the track.

Btw you will expect alot of overtaking and fights during this weeks F1 race in Abu Dhabi

If it is a scratch build track or a legal conversion then feel free to upload it to RD.
For some reason people always think we as staff are only allowed to upload, but in fact everybody can. So if the track meets our rules: go ahead

I am one of those who thought only staff could upload, or that tracks had to somehow be approved by RD before been uploaded, so thanks for enlightening me on that Bram.

I also was unsure about mentioning No Grip in case I broke rules on 'promoting' other websites on RD, guess I was wrong there too!

The track is on No Grip - it is apparently a Legal conversion from what I can see, but it is a 0.9 release - ie, released as a beta because the track which it was converted from was built before they actually finished building the real one, so no underground pit exit, which would have been nice!

The author of the Conversion does however say people are welcome to update and post improvements, so hopefully we will see someone pick it up and develop it.

I am already late NOW for an appointment because I have been trying to sort a crazy 5000 ping problem on one of my machines, (If I go into firewall, alter ANY program access rule (ie, totally unrelated to RACE or Steam) suddenly pings come back for long enough to join a server!!!) Its nuts and its made me late, if I get back in time before the Porsche Supercup at Interlagos tonight I will have a look at how to upload.

Would really appreciate if someone could look at the download on No Grip - and confirm its suitable for putting on RD or not, before I learn how to upload to RD. Thanks again Bram.

i have done some research and the track was created for GP4 and then converted to other sims so its a scratch build track mean its legal and can be uploaded to RD D/L server.:good:

Thankyou Yves, I have managed to upload it, and the AI Fix, if people need/want it after rearranging my afternoon!

Only thing remaining is for me to suggest it as a track for an event??

Pwetty pwease, fluttering eyelids, puppy eyes....... its not working is it..... I bet it would if I was some 20 year old blond babe with legs up to my neck instead of some hairy arsed Yorkshire man! Oh well...

So has anyone got any views on the accuracy or not of this track now you have seen the F1?
I raced on this track in a league this morning. It's the most accurate Abu Dhabi out there at the time of typing, if I'm correct. I have the track posted by MS7XWDC installed in my rFactor, and while it's prettier graphics-wise, it's horribly inaccurate. The chicane at the end of the long straight is completely wrong, and two corner complexes - turns 14 and 15, and turn 19 - have swapped places.

The one available for Evo is the best and most accurate in my opinion. :)

Just had a few more laps and compared it with the circuit layout on the official F1 site and it is pretty accurate, all of the corners seem to be in the right places, just the pit in and out are wrong but thats a minor quibble.

I agree Martin - its pretty good and pretty accurate, bar the pit exit, isn't it. I can't wait to enter a race on this track...
