About 5 sec difference compared to AC on silverstone. Curious why?

I've recently gotten AC and I started running the silverstone track (the full one. GP?) with various GT3 cars. On AC I was able to get a best of 2:14 with the GT3 Z4 (yeah yeah, not great) but on Pcars I was able to get 2:09. that's a 5 second difference. This is very consistent too...

Can anyone chime in and explain why this might be? Am I better at driving in Pcars? track isn't laser scanned so is it tiny bit shorter? car is easier to drive? (doesn't feel like it is) what the hell is it?

I don't have iracing, but I'm curious what my time will be if I attempted the same in that...

also, little off topic, but the Z4 GT3 has like 12 modes of TC on Pcars. I can't tell a difference between any of them...

Thanks!

imo AC has quite a bit more grip, on fast or (obviously) optimal mode than project cars does. while i agree pCARS is the more forgiving of the two, it has the least default grip of any sim i know (if you dont count rf2 green track as default). so provided your times are remotely competitive the reason should have to do with the way the games cars are setup, unless pCARS really, really mangled silverstone.

when i got pCARS one of the first things i did was experimental races with the renault cup car & silverstone. i can't speak of the car setup, but my best laptimes were roughly the same.

one thing to note about gt3 cars is BoP. if you compare top speeds of AC or iRacing gt3 cars to r3e ADAC gt3 cars, youll notice a huge difference in the top speeds the cars are capable of. i assume this is bc AC & iR balance their cars against their own class, while s3 balanced ADAC gt3 based on the real world BoP. pcars might simply have faster gt3 cars as well.

interesting about BoP. I'm not sure how that exactly works, but I did a quick google on it and understand now. Cars have a specific power to weight ratio. so certain game makers can vary this and for example a certain car can have more power in one game vs the other.

I posted this in Pcars forum and got a reply that showed results for that same track. the times look comparable to my results in Pcars. of course who really knows I guess. I suppose consistency is good, so it is what it is...

The AC record on RSR live timing is 2:01.324 for BMW Z4 GT3.

pCars is much more forgiving, simple as that, because the phisics are not on par with AC..different engine
In rF2 you will be even slower...how about that? :D

I actually have to disagree with this.. the GT3 cars in AC have lot more grip than in pCars. The Silverstone track though is much faster in pCars (and a lot less accurate than the laser scanned AC version).

I'd say it all comes down to the track. Also keep in mind that pCars default setup uses the soft slick whereas in AC I believe it's the medium.

I use Green=93% or Fast=96% grip condition in AC - more realistic than the default 100% grip condition. This changes the GT3 and of course any other cars handling in direction "less grip" and more "Fun"
